Friend at church ask if I would see if I could get his tractor running. I said I’ll stop by one day after work, today was the day. Nice Kubota with 288 hours on it, bad thing is that it sits outside.

He got on it, said he charged the battery yesterday. He moved both gear sticks to the neutral position and pushed the clutch in. Turned the key and the fuel solenoid clicked, that was all it would do.

I didn’t take any tools with me and I had nice clothes on since I just came from a funeral.

He said the PTO lever is over here and it’s in the off position. I walked to the other side to see it and it was in the position with the arrow in a circle. I moved it to the one without the arrow in a circle and said “try it now”.

:spending: Here is the bill for $75. Now I know you won't charge him but if the lesson hurt just a little more don't you think he would remember it better?

He’s an older gentleman and it was on my way home. I didn’t mind one bit

Figured as much. Poor attempt at sarcastic humor on my part. I wouldn't stay in business long as I would give away too many services just to be nice.

I never include labor when I work on my neighbor’s mowers, vehicles, fallen trees etc. but she always slips in a little bonus to the parts bill. Believe me when I say I don’t need the money. I guess she does it to make herself feel better as she’s got people in her life that could help but don’t lift a finger.

Some people repay kindness the only way they know how.
