    Hello,
I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, 4.0. I’m having issues with it. It will try to start but will not turn over, not getting spark. I have replaced crank sensor, cam sensor, fuel pump no fix, ecm. It does get 12 volt from the ignition to the coil but won’t start. I have no codes either. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks

So you have verified you have power at the coils on Pin 1 (Black/Red) and Ground on Pin 4 (White/Black)?

Does your check engine light come on with the key on?
Do you have a scan tool that can view live data?

Have you checked if the injectors are firing?

Yes check engine light comes on with key on. I have an inexpensive tool that can show live data. We had someone look at the injectors and they’re not firing.
We’ve had a few people with some high tech equipment to try to help but they didn’t know either.
Online it says to take a screw driver to check the injectors if a clicking sound but I checked and no sound. Also someone that was helping had a multi meter and couldn’t verify any power.

Can you connect your scan tool and see if you have an RPM reading during cranking?

Well if it doesn't see RPM it's not gona fire coils or injectors.

The starter is turning the engine correct?

Ok, we did have someone that had the scope and he could see the spikes and he tied in to the black and white wire right before it plugged in to the ecm but he thought it was reading the spikes correctly as it was turning over. I’m not sure, that part is out of my league.

Just a little more info on this truck, it was my neighbors truck I’m only 2nd owner. They had no issues with this truck. I bought it, I drove it 10 miles and turned it off and next day went to drive it and it wouldn’t start and it’s been this way since.

Well I mean we need to see if the cam and crank signals are correct, if the ECM is communicating and RPM reads 0 during cranking we have to verify those first.

Did you say you replaced the ECM in your first post?

Interesting, I hope we haven't "built in" other problems in addition to the original problem with the list of parts that have been replaced but there's a good chance that we have. That's why it's almost always cheaper to do a proper diagnosis first before firing any parts at it.

Yep, I agree, I’m a parts changer, I’m old school. And had several people tell me that.
Yes I did replace ECM, didn’t change anything. Thought it was bad and they sent me another one and no change. So I put the original one back in. Trying to start from the beginning.
Could this be related to a reluctor wheel? Had another mechanic mention to me that?? Your thoughts?

Nothing wrong with changing parts if they are proven bad but changing them as a "guess" especially with today's crappy parts tends to cause more problems than it solves. I get that it's hard for a DIYer to do some of the more advanced testing but there is alot of stuff that can be tested with a <$20 meter and test light.

These ECMs aren't completely plug and play, you have to do the Immobilizer reset which involves jumping pins 4 and 13 of the DLC with a paperclip and turning the key on for 30 min.

It's certainly possible although unlikely, without seeing the crank signal anything is a guess.
When you replaced the crank sensor did you make sure you got it seated properly?
If the airgap between the sensor and reluctor wheel is too wide the amplitude of the signal would not be high enough for the ECM to see it.
