I recently bought a 2023 Tacoma. As I was cleaning out my 2012 Tacoma to sell I realized that it was absolutely, embarrassingly, utterly disgusting. The amount of brown grime that coated everything was horrible. What goes into keeping a truck nice? How much time does it take a week? Its not a work truck, more of a fishing, hunting and camping on the weekends truck.

    thanks

A vehicle is like a house, it doesn't clean itself. You can spend as much time as you want cleaning it or as little. The choice is yours

    Agreed

I take one day a week to walk around to each seat with a garbage can and throw out anything I can. Empty water bottles, receipts, paper towels, etc. I take a dash duster once in a while, shop vac to the all-weather mats and that's about it.

I have the time to detail the crap out of things, but I choose to utilize that time in other ways that are more enriching to my life. If there's dust, I can live with it. If it's cluttered, I rectify it.

I wash & vacuum my truck at minimum every other week. If it’s not raining it’s gets a simple wipe down weekly with no rinse ceramic wash. It’s get a complete detail every quarter.

I get so irritated with seeing pollen build up every day after I get home from work that I typically wipe the truck down with speed shine every couple of days. For my interior, it gets vacuumed out about once every month. Upholstery gets cleaned with the carpet cleaner a lot less frequently. Dash gets cleaned off when I vacuum with some interior cleaner and microfiber towel.

Same here. Way too many other things that are higher priority or different hobbies. Hmm...spend hours detailing my truck to make it look like it just rolled off the showroom floor, only to get dirty/dusty in one or two errand trips, or spend those same hours on my motorcycle. Motorcycle wins every time.

Don't do what I did for the first five years of ownership and run the car through auto car washes. I recently got into washing and waxing all of my cars starting 18 months ago. The Tacoma still cleans up nice, and I clay barred it a couple of times since. There is a small spot on the roof where the clearcoat is thinning. That's my fault. Now I wash once a month on average. I am only using spray wax/ceramics for now, as everything I do is outdoors. IDK why, but I find washing my cars therapeutic as of late.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
On my 3rd gen, I'm finding the interior panels scuff easily, and the scuffs hold onto any lint or dust.
Wiping down, even wet, just makes the panels look worse.
I've heard of going over the scuffs with a propane torch, but I'm not there yet/ :)-))
