How many miles on your 2nd Gen?

2007... now at 36,750. Just general maintenance.

 

I responded a couple of years ago, but an update.

At 257,000 miles. I've spent some money in the last year. One of the pulleys on the front of the engine went bad and I had all of them replaced. Replaced both CV axles at the same time.

Starter died with no warning. Normally that wouldn't be a huge deal, but I was 70 miles from home, and it cost me $475 to get it towed.

I had the radiator flushed and hoses replaced in addition to a new serpentine belt. But that's just normal stuff. The coolant and hoses were factory so I'm not complaining that they lasted 250,000 miles. I'd replaced the serpentine belt earlier, so it wasn't factory.

Overall that isn't bad. The 1st 250,000 miles the only repair other than normal maintenance was a new alternator

 

2006 106k Rolled over 100k this year! Got my 100k Mileage club sticker.

What was the Cost to convert the front end? It looks Good!!!

Thank you so much. I used all OEM parts for the most part and I also had an employee discount to which helped bring the cost down. The total cost was around $3,500 including my Alpharex headlights that I paid a-lot for. Im sure if you used non oem parts it could just be around give or take $1,000 but I really wanted the oem fitment and had no problems everything lined up perfect. Also not including paint which I am getting soon which the guy quoted me 3700 and he is a good local guy who is gonna take all the panels off and do a good job I hope. 2013 trd sport. Super white. 268k miles. Replaced a tie rod end twice (same side) knock sensors and the torque converter was replaced at 25k (warranty) both rear wheel bearings
Everything else has been basic maintenance and I’ve done it all my self.

 

2012 regular cab, 4WD, just passed 190,000

ive had two 2nd gens

my 2013 trd off road was beaten and abused for (bought it with 25k miles on it) 130k-140k miles? it was an offroad and adventure toy. i sold it after i bent the frame and spent a lot of time and money fixing it. but other then that i never had an issue with the truck and it didnt have an easy life!

my 2015 access cab on the other hand was kinda doomed when i got it... i got the truck with higher miles at 75k? i think it was? the truck was great until i hit 100k and then the trans started to shit the bed and was no longer shifting properly.. was gonna be 4500 and a 4 month wait to get it back so i have sense sold it. other then that thou the engine was solid just a bad trans that someone before me didnt take care of properly.

 

271,643 miles as of today. Pics from 6 months ago. Normal maintenance. Only issue was a bad injector coil at 100k causing a misfire.

 

2014 purchased 4/2021 with 104,000.

Current mileage: 141,000: Scheduled maintenance only so far: front pads and rotors is the only major "repair". Dealership-serviced Lease turn-in early-on, then sold as a Toyota Certified until they traded it and I got it. Right place at the right time. A/C is nice and cold, 4wd gizmos wake right up when I select it. Driver's seat bolster barely wrinkled. Transmission fluid and coolant replaced by the dealer just before I got it: it shifts smoothly/perfectly with no converter shudder. The only thing that quits and pouts every once in a while is the sound system. Power re-set and holding the button in re-sets it and brings it back.

Frame is original and in good shape with a Fluid-Film spray once per year. Averaging about 10k/year now, so it should last for a while.

2013 TRD OR, 125k. The only mods are: Bilstein 2nd gen TRD Pro suspension (6112/5160, 2" lift), bigger tires, sliders and full skids, and a nice stereo. Have done all maintenance and wrenching myself, and have never had a single issue with the truck, ever. It's got it's quirks: Taco Kazoo, weak AC, Seats that are just comfortable enough that I'm not motivated enough replace them etc.

It's got some paint fade starting on the roof, just above the windshield, and thoughts about the usual wear items are starting to hang out in the back of my mind. The truck stopped being a DD about 5 years ago, and I quit working 2 years ago. Now we're settled into a comfy retirement.

Rant: I've owned lots of vehicles and my Toyotas have easily been the best of the bunch. My wife wants to look at a new Cadillac. She can look all she wants, heck it's fun to go look, but GM won't get a dime from me as long as I'm alive. I've had some experience with GM, Ford, and that other company. A couple of those were examples of GM and Chryslers finest from the seventies and eighties. I was a teen and in college then and REALLY didn't appreciate spending my beer and book money keeping those pieces of shit running (take a moment to ponder the irony that because of those cars, I learned how to turn a wrench). Then I bought a Toyota Corolla when I got married, and the thing ran perfect and problem free, always. I changed the timing belt at 140k (with the aforementioned wrenching skills) and drove it for a few more years, then donated it to a friends brother. Last I heard he's still driving it. With GM,F,&C, I felt I was being marketed with "Buy American" blah blah blah, and being sold cheaply built junk. I've had to drive a few "American Made" fleet vehicles since, and a couple of them rose to "just OK", a couple others still had the stink of, "Hey, you fucked up, you trusted us".

I swore off doing business with those companies over 30 years ago and have never had a reason to reconsider. I suppose it's possible that they build some fine vehicles now, but when it comes to GM, Ford, and that other company, "Fuck Off" became a part of my car buying DNA a long time ago.

 

Nope...daily driver (retired)... used mainly for errands, towing boat, and wheeling on blm back roads.

 

Lol, yeah the black unpainted grill was months out and the dealership had an inferno one in stock so I went with it I really like inferno.

 

You haven’t had to change the front wheel bearings? Mine went out at 110K. Haven’t had to touch the rears yet.
