There are also alot of dealerships who give great prices online, too. I agree with alphaomwga.. Since it sounds like you aren't in a time crunch to install this weekend, I'd shop online and see if the local dealership would match or just return and shop online.

Even charged me a 15% fee for using a credit card. Wouldn’t budge. I could have walked but didn’t. It’s on me.

I struggle to properly fit fogs in my SR. Wiring was the easy part.

I bought a pair of cheap fogs and bezels because I have the 30k lumen CaliRaised hidden bumper LED bar and don’t even need to use the factory location fogs… I want them mostly for ascetics with orange lenses over chrome reflectors to match the orange LED light bar.

Are there supposed to be brackets behind the bumper or do the OE fog lights simply screw into the little plastic tabs molded into the bumper?

I screwed the fogs to those tabs because it seems to be meant to do so, and the fog lights appear to be in the proper position… but the mounting tabs on the bezels will not all mount/seat properly into the slots in the bumper. Is the fog light meant to be mounted behind those tabs? This would give the bezel a bit more depth to get all the tabs locked in and seated flush to the bumper.

I’m trying to avoid spending $300-400 for higher-end lights that I don’t really need, and possibly continue to have the same fitment issues.

    Anyone have any tips?

Hey peeps. About a month ago I installed my diode dynamics max fogs with backlight, stalk switch style. Easy install and worked for about a month. Now the backlights work but the fogs do not. Checked the 15a fuse and switched out the relay. No change. When I turn on the fogs the indicator light on the cluster comes on like it should. Any ideas?

I’d say check your connections on the fog lights. Did you connect to the prewire harness?

I did check the connectors. I’ll recheck tomorrow but when I installed I made sure everything clicked into the receivers, plus the backlights work like normal so I doubt it’s a connection. I understand that the backlight is powered from a different power source. Could there be another fuse aside from the 15a in the engine bay fuse box?
For the backlights I used a harness from Dave Easa here in Tacoma world. Nothing to do with the fog connection since it’s bypassing the t tap that DD sent, which was of lower quality.

what I know from when I did mine there is that one relay and fuse. If those two are good my guess would be the issue is in the fog lights it self or connections. When I did my install I had one of fog lights flickering. Turns out It was a bad positive connection. I too have DD

I’ll take another look at all my connections tomorrow.
Kindof disappointing but hopefully something simple. Thanks fellas. Any other advice is welcome.
Happy holidays. Have a nice evening.

If those connectors were not hooked to factory lights there is a good chance the connections are corroded.
I hooked mine up as outlined in the thread. Had a great local guy put in the stalk with foglights.
Lights were not working. Polarity was was correct. With a meter and some jiggling diagnosed the problem with the oem harness connector at the front. Everything else wiring wise was brand new. All continuity checks showed the new wiring as good.
Cleaned the oem connector and it was good to go.
My mechanic was very impressed how stock and clean that mod is as opposed to the rigged stuff he sees all the time.
BTW , it took him 45 minutes. Stalk, diagnosis, everything. Charged me for an hour. Good guy.

I’ll check that out tomorrow. Thank you. I used dielectric grease, but the original harness (before the engine bay fog harness added to complete the fog install) which was exposed to the elements for the last year. Maybe that’s the culprit. Thanks for the heads up.
    They’re factory lights.

We were getting intermittent voltage at that connection. Once that was cleaned up it's been good for a year.

I have a question about this thread. I am trying to add fog lights to my Tacoma. My 2020 has the blue wire in the ecu connection. When I put power to the blue wire, my lights don’t work. I ordered all the parts listed except I got different fog lights. I put the relay in, but I don’t have any power at the 15 amp fuse in the fuse box. Is my 3rd gen different from 2nd gen’s in this aspect? Thanks

That's because the Blue wire requires a ground, not juice.

Need some help here. Tried to do this mod. I was pre wired so followed that path. The stalk I got did not fit so I put the column back together. Went for the switch. I do have an aftermarket remote start installed so instead of splicing into the harness I tapped into that and placed a ground. Lights are not working but I do have voltage at the harness. So I'm thinking bad lights. New ones on order. Now the main problem. Truck now cuts off when I go into our through neutral and I don't get the dash splash screen or anything on the display. It does show when I change into a gear though. I've tried disconnecting everything back to how it was and disconnecting the battery for an hour. Still have the problem. One other thing that had me worried. I got a lighted fog light toggle. I have it connected to the ground and to the 26 pin. The switch is lighting up. No power ran to it. Even when I pull the fog light relay under the hood. I did use the same ground as I did for the remote start system. Don't know how that could be an issue since I disconnected everything and still hace the problem. Any suggestions?

    2022 Tacoma SR 3.5 4x4.

Edit. Today I found it acts normal as long as I don't put the dimmer switch in auto mode. Still looking for why but at least it is drivable.

Solution: bad ground. Also I couldn't get the switch I ordered off Amazon to work so I just have them connected to the ground. That way they are on when my headlights are on. May try a switch again or a dinner switch another day. If I can find the correct one.

Thanks a bunch for the write up, definitely helped during my install. Uploaded a video to YouTube showing the full removal/installation of the steering wheel components and fog light stalk switch for pre-wired Tacomas if anyone wants to follow along.

I did a lot of research looking for the correct dimmer. The part number listed is not the correct one for me. (There are about 7 different versions.) I eventually went to CarMax's website. Found a 2023 Tacoma with every option known to man. Called the dealer with its vin and got the correct dimmer switch part number.

This part number is for a 3rd gen Tacoma with all light options.

    84140-0R010
    • DRL
    • Auto Headlights
    • Fog Lights
They seem to run about 150ish online and since I am doing this on a budget I will be holding off until I find a deal.

Edit, Just found this that may help everyone.
I tried to verify which ones had fog lights as option. I have the ones in Red that I have found to NOT have them. Orange i don't know for sure but do not believe they do. Dark Green I have confirmed and I believe the light green one is the version without auto headlights. Canada options I have not verified.

Then again I could be completely wrong and all the ones with dual mode control are it. but honestly I don't understand why they have Air Conditioning in the description.

I can confirm that 84140-0R010 is the right one if your existing headlight dimmer switch has the 4-option selector (headlight, parking lamp, auto, and DRL off).
