    Howdy all,

    2002 Tacoma V6

AC has not worked for a while ~3 years. I believe there may be a small leak somewhere and haven't recharged it since it stopped working. Went to recharge with UV dye refrigerant pulled a vacuum on the system prior to recharging. A few problems:

    1. The can of freon is not emptying into the system. The pressure rises very quickly to the 20-30psi and stays there even after closing the valve on the refill tool.

    2. The AC is not turning on. Tried to run the AC while refilling the system but the AC button light won't come on in the cab.

The AC clutch is not getting any power. I directly connected a 12V line from the battery to the AC wire and got the compressor to click so the compressor itself seems fine.

    The AC fuse is good.

I tested the other end of the AC wire via mulitmeter and got no power, tried pressing the AC button a few times but no change.

Kinda at a loss for what else/how to check for issues.

    EDIT:
Problem ended up being AC button itself. See thread for details on fix and troubleshooting, some of which was unnecessary but may be helpful for other issues

Update have checked the following for electrical continuity:
Input and output of dual pressure switch - All Good
AC Control to Clutch/Compressor Switch (Light Green Wire) - All Good
Output of Dual Pressure Switch to AC Control (Blue wire whitel line) - All Good
    AC Fuse - All good

    With AC fuse removed:
AC Fuse to Dual pressure switch - All Good
AC Fuse to AC Control - No Continuity

In the wiring diagram below I have crossed out what I have tested so far. I'm not sure what the item I circled in green is or how to test it.

    Update 2:

I noticed there was no power getting to the AC fuse. Replaced the heater relay still no power to the AC fuse. Checked that power is getting to the heater relay terminals when engine is running so heater fuse is good.

Checked continuity between relay terminals (all of them) and the AC fuse (both terminals) think the connection between them may be messed up.

So you have no power at the ac fuse..Pin 1 of the heater relay have power?

Yes pin 1 of the heater relay has power.

Also rechecked continuity between heater relay output and AC fuse, that is good

Update fixed the issue. I was being dumb and did not realize the heater relay would only be triggered on if the blower was on. Once I turned the blower on I got power to the ac fuse. Still did not have power to the compressor though.

Eventually figured out that the actual AC button itself was bad. Did this through a combination of continuity testing and checking the voltage on both sides of the button. And comparing to the recirculation button which has the same toggle behavior.

Desoldered/removed the original button from the circuit and replaced with a generic from Amazon. Works fine now.

If others have this same problem some photos are attached and the amazon link to buttons I ordered is below.
