Wanted to get people’s opinions… would you still run these as a daily driver? Pretty big chunk taken out of the sidewall by the bead…

I just drove about 2000 miles back from Moab with similar damage on the same tires. No problems for me

It didn't expose the casing surprisingly enough, but whatever bit that tire more than likely weakened the plys. If it were me, I'd replace it. Personally I'd rather spend money to not be changing a blowout on the shoulder of an interstate.

If you want to chance it and run it, do a walkaround before every drive and make sure its not showing signs of blistering. At the very optimistic most, that's a street-only tire now. Don't off road and certainly don't tow with that. Again, if it were me, I'd call it done.

Would I run it to get home? Sure.
Would I run it for the rest of the tread life? No. That would be getting replaced in the next paycheck or two. And I'd have that wheel looked at too. What ever damaged the tire was bad enough to chunk aluminum forged wheels.

Are those 2nd gen Tacoma 17” TRD Sport wheels forged? I’m pretty sure all the Tacoma wheels are cast.*

*excluding the TRD Rock Warrior wheels that are forged because they never officially came on the Tacoma. I see you about to comment @eurowner :boink:

    Pretty sure they are cast.
That damage is on the very edge of the lip though. It's completely fine.
My bigger worry would be any sharpness there damaging a new tire being put on. I'd take a file or something and try to smooth it down before any new tire is put on.

I stand corrected. Point is, it's enough to take a chunk out of a metal wheel.

Totally agree with that. I was surprised when I saw the photos and the rim damaged.
