I have no hood flutter, and I possibly attribute it to having extra material, not sure. For that reason alone I would order one, based on the complaints.

Stick a couple of 18" lengths of closed cell pipe insulation in the area that flutters. It works to keep hood from fluttering.

It comes with the proper holes and retainers. Takes just a few minutes to install.
    It's thin and lightweight.
There's room in the lower valleys of this hood mat to place 1/2 inch thick exercise mat closed cell foam, cut into strips, 2-4 inches or so wide and several inches long, held in place with silicone.
For the protruding ridges on the underside of the hood, there's room inside the mat for thin adhesive foam tape strips for a little additional insulation.
It doesn't add much weight and might help just slightly with sound reduction, along with a little thin sound dampening material installed between the inner and outer hood skins.IMG_8801.jpg

one of the only things that pisses me off that Toyota didn’t include in all trims.

Installed my ZEKZOOP Soundproof Mat (bought thru Amazon)…….
    Easy install, 10 mins….
    15 Push-TypeClips, youll only use 13…..
Trick I found useful, take apart shipping box and put over engine , to catch Clips and to help you get to hard to reach holes (lower center).

Absolutely use the box, or moving blanket, or anything to cover the engine. I lost a few pins down into the engine compartment and had to buy some additional ones to finish the installation :(

I dont get a lot of engine noise. I get a lot of fan noise with the A/C on and in traffic; I'll let you know if the mat makes a difference (get it later this week).

My stock 25 Tacoma TRD off-road 6mt turbo non premium truck, definitely needed the under hood sound insulation, turbo wine was excessive and unbearable without it. Was worth the $380 dollars I paid for the OEM part and clips. Much more quieter, now!!

Not sure if I got any less engine noise, most is probably coming through firewall. I am hoping that it protects paint from excess heat, in the long run.
Clips were easy as abc-123. No trouble there.
    No effect on hood shake/bounce/flutter.

I installed one last night. It seems to fit pretty nice. I have the Sport hood and decided to cut three small holes for the scoop bolts to extend through. Not sure if it really helps anything, but I figured it can't hurt much (except the pocket book).

I had all the clips lined up at the front of the engine over the radiator. All lined up, ready to go. As I pushed in the pin near the center of the hood, the hood lifted a bit and the prop rod came loose, and it fell down right on top of all my clips. So that's how I lost a half dozen or so :(. D'oh!

Just installed mine. Ten minute job including cleaning the dust off the underside of the hood before installation. Excellent idea from a prior post to use a short piece of wood to jam between the pad and the plastic cowl panel to hold the pad tight against the rear center hole. A step stool and fastener with the screw started in it and one second to push that hard to get to one in. Looks good. I was surprised it comes folded in half but that doesn't show when unfolded. The material is like many other hood insulation pads I've seen over the years so I'm not worried about melting. I'm sure the proper material was engineered into this product or the manufacturer would have endless liability problems.

After much use, only notice a difference outside of the truck. Not recommended; not "not recommended" but not the best investment IMHO.
