Has anyone found creative ways to mount an onboard compressor other than under the hood? I know you can buy the expensive (but very slick) OEM set-up but I'm not ready to ask the wife for that huge $$. Thinking of trying a cheaper compressor I found on e-bay (I won't be using it very often) and would like to mount it in the OEM location. Potentially install a plug for the air line in one of the bed cubbies. Just wondering if anyone has already worked it out.
    Cheers

Also, some of the mistaken genners put compressors under their seats. I never went that route since I knew very early on I wasn't putting any more money or time into it until Toyota fixed their mistake and built a proper truck. You can search that loosah forum for more info.

I mounted a $375 rough country dual compressor on the side of the bed right where the OEM one goes. Spent maybe another $50 on air hose, fittings and wire. Took me a couple hours and one bad measurement. But it works great. IMG_9230.jpg IMG_9245.jpg IMG_9256.jpg

That's almost exactly what I was thinking of doing. Was hoping there might be mounting options other then to the bed but this would work very well. Thanks.

Well, I designed an under-the-hood 3D printed base for a single ARB compressor and it works well.

Thanks but I really don't want to install it under the hood. Going with a cheaper unit, I'm worried about constant heat shortening the life.

There's probably a bunch of bracket options. I have an arb twin on a desert does it mount under the passenger seat of my 3rd gen, but I don't think they make one for the 4th gen.

I installed that ARB compressor in the engine bay of my third-gen in 2019. It's still doing fine.

Yup. Have an ARB dual in my engine bay and 2 gallon tank under the bed for 7+ years and no issues

Went right to the battery under back seat. There is a grommet just under passenger side back door that goes into the battery location.
