ok! 09 standard cab 2.7 4wd. love this little truck. Want to go from 245/75/16 to 265/75/16 on my new tires. I know my mileage will suffer, but how bad will my acceleration get hurt. tell me what you know!

Bought my 06 RC 4x4 with 265/75/r16 Michelin Defenders, year later got 285/75/r16s (33s equivalent). Considering my baseline of the truck is what you’re trying to go up to, you’ll feel difference in acceleration, I doubt it will be dramatic though.

Before I lifted, added bumper weight, and got bigger tires, I would get 400 miles consistently out of one full tank (~19mpg).
^this would be closest to what you should expect.

Now with around 500lbs added weight on 33s and a lift, I get closer to 14.25mpg.

Rotating mass = poor acceleration. If you’re looking at road tires or even all terrains or mud terrains, keep in mind your rotating mass, ie weight of each tire. Heavier tires of the same size will have poorer acceleration (likely also reduced mpg).

MPG will also be affected by any aftermarket bumpers or lift, all create more drag driving down the highway.

    Hope this helps!IMG_0254.jpg IMG_7898.jpg
