Bought a gallon of Rainx green fluid. I ran into some info that Rainx is bad for the pump.
Have not used it yet but anyone out there familiar with this.
I did some googling and maybe just the purple fluid?

I've used it (and orange in the winter) in my 2nd gen since new, 10 years and 99k later no issues with the washer system not even a clogged nozzle.

Ive seen a little bit of evidence that washer fluids with a little more aggressive mixture of alcohol and chemicals (for the freezing level) can sometimes take out the dinky little plastic pump.
But probably overblown. What usually happens is people don't use the washer sprayers enough so the fluid sits in there and gets stinky when the chems break down. The fluid can congeal into a blob at the bottom of the reservoir and clog the inlet of the pump

I use rainx orange one on all of my vehicles since it became available. No issues.
I believe they are all methanol base.

If it ruined washer pumps they wouldn’t be still making it

    Just use it.
Don't let it sit for months just use at least a bit every week or 2.

I've been using both the Rainx additive and Rainx washer fluid for ages on all of our vehicles. I never heard that warning and never had that problem.

That stuff works like a champ.

Yeah, I utilize both the Green and Orange (for the winter) RainX washer fluid and haven't had any issues. I would just make sure to use it often to keep it moving if you have any concerns.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
I've used all season, bug, winter and cheapo brand on multiple cars including the taco with no issues. Only time I've replaced a pump was when one of the plastic connections out of it leaked (pump still worked fine).

Subaru's have a 'sensor' to 'alert you' when the fluid is low.
Duh. Like if I try to use it and nothing happens I know it's low - duh...

Anywho I apparently put some third-world-fluid in to top it off and it wrecked the sensor.
'Warning Light' was on all the time regardless. I couldn't get it to go away.

Dealer wanted $100 just to diagnose it and off the top of his head guestimated $600 to replace the sensor.

I told him to go scratch. My go-to Independent dude reached up under the front wheel, yanked on something and said 'fixed it'... LOL

No more warning light - gee whiz but now I'll have to 'discover' there isn't any fluid if I try to use it and none comes out.
Oh the humanity.... Thank gawd I'm a boomer and can handle this tragedy...

Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of this new-tech on these newer cars - but some of it is over the top.

What’s next, a dummy light on the dash to tell us the battery dropped below 11 volts?

I use whatever is outside the gas station when I run out during a sloppy, wet, salty, wintery day when I have lost my ability to see beyond the end of my hood.

You're in Maui, you probably use that fluid no less than 2-3 times a day, should be fine.

We only see pumps fail that are frozen.

The only other issue I see is cheap blue washer fluid stains the paint.

I've read about the orange clogging up the system over time. I've been using the green for a couple of years no issues.

Since we never get below 40 degrees in the dead of winter I just use water.

Not that it rains much in AZ either, but the rain-x formula works awesome for shedding water off the windshield driving down the freeway.

This myth can be cataloged right in there with the hoax that if you wait 100K and then change out all your tranny fluid at once, it will grenade on your next trip to Costco.

Even better, it is on the very bottom of the reservoir. So when the light comes on, it is basically empty.
