    Hey,

    I just bought a use 2009 Tacoma

previous owner installed an aftermarket stereo android 12 and it has CarPlay etc and messed with the wires. it was working fine when I got it but then it started to glitch and the buttons on the side stopped working.

wanting help on what to do to fix it?
And has this happened to anyone else?

Do you just need a new wiring harness for it? If so Crutchfield would be my recommendation.

When I removed the screen to look how the wires were I shocked my head. The one thing they should have not done!!

i would trust that radio about as well as any politician.

but no matter what, you'll need to repair the wiring first.

the first option is going to be a junk yard-- just get them to cut as close to 12" of wiring as possible. 6" is doable, but can be more difficult.

the next option is a harness supplier.

metra(seller of aftermarket radio adapter harnesses) sells 2 of the harnesses you need. but it appears 3 are damaged in your pictures. the 3rd is likely for steering wheel controls.
metra 71-1761 covers the two harnesses for radio power, and speaker connections. but be warned, they'll be using aftermarket wiring color code, so splicing them in will require matching the wire location, not necessarily the color.

next option would be to pay a shop to do it.

and last option would be the dealer, if they'll even touch it.
