    Absolutely not a dumb question. In this case (probably most common) BT = Brook Trout.

    Brown Trout would have been entirely reasonable… (Commonly Browns I think)

    BT = Big Trout? Entirely reasonable guess. I’ll avoid the crappy short hand in the future! Thanks for pointing it out.
