100K on this one...249K on my 2019...I still love these trucks!

I bought this truck September of 23 and now have 100K miles on it (a lot of those in 4WD). I had a 2019 before this one and had 249K when I traded it in. That truck still looked and drove like new - with no issues (a few recalls - done during reg maintenance). I should have kept that as another farm truck...like my wife begged me to do. I just didn't want another vehicle sitting around.

Obviously I drive a lot - we have a horse/sheep farm out in the country. I'm a fanatic about maintenance - I have the dealership change the oil and do basic maintenance every 4000-4500 miles. Totally unnecessary I'm sure - but I'm an actual Boomer and still do things like I've done all my life.

I find it comfortable, and plenty of power for what I do. I have a 14' double axle trailer and a small horse trailer (only used for sheep) and it does fine. I did add a REDARC Brake Controller. I love the manuverability of the truck - from around our farm to around cities and in traffic. The 4WD capability is absolutely terrific. Our farm is bordered on 2 sides by a river, so often we are in soft soil/mud. I have used KO2s/KO3s primarily the past 300K miles on the these trucks.

The truck rides great for me - and my wife, we rarely have anyone other than our German Shepherd in the back seat. My wife has a 4Runner Pro and we both love it but we usually take my truck. She bought her 4Runner in 2022 and now has just under 30K miles on it. I have a Diamondback Switchback cover on this truck and that allows me to have a dry, secure space for bags of feed, horse treats, a cooler, ropes and a Pelican rolling case (filled with necessities). I bought this truck only because I wanted another V6. I am confident the new Tacoma will be great, but with the amount of driving I do, I just wanted something I knew.

Bottom line, Over the past 30 years of our marriage we've had a ton of vehicles - from 7 Series BMWs to corvettes to GMC Full Size Denali trucks/SUVs, to GMC High Top Conversion vans. Many of these vehicles were near/over 100K. When our kids were small - all now adult - we wanted larger vehicles. Now we just want reliability and capability first and then a comfortable ride. I find the Tacoma to be a very dependable and comfortable truck. While it is not perfect, it is my second favorite vehicle I've owned (full size jeep Grand Wagoneer - 1989) and it is certainly perfect for my needs. Current pic - was at 99800 as of this pic

 

Do you have any pictures of your last truck the 2019? And how about the Jeep Grand wagon year? Any pictures of that? I find an amazing that you had 250k on the 2019, whereas I only have 50K. Sounds good keep up the good work!

 

That's cool you have such LOW miles!! My main office is 60 miles from our home and I'm in the office 7 days a week, but I'm going to retire within the next 2 years. We also have 2 businesses associated with our farm and I'm always going somewhere.

I don't have a ton of pics but here is my 2019 truck the day I traded it in. The other pic is the day I drove it off the lot. I had 249K miles on it when I traded it in and (I believe) 7 miles on it when I purchased it. Someone locally bought it and I still see it occasionally...still looks great, and I'm sure it is still running strong. Again my wife highly suggested we just keep it rather than trade it in, but I didn't want another vehicle in the garage/barns... but looking back she was right.

GOODNESS I wish I had pics of the GW...I actually had 2, a 1983 and the 1989. That was before smart phones and I was never a picture taker. Now looking back - they were basically new when I had them - bought them used and a few years old but they often still had issues, it was not the most reliable vehicle but I LOVED the way they drove and looked. I have seriously considered buying another - from the Wagonmaster - have came close a few times, but never pulled the trigger. Perhaps when I retire...I'll gift myself.

I had a Wagoneer growing up. Great rig! Untiil the exhaust leak and the transmission started slipping.

 

Yeah - funny thing is within a couple of weeks of me trading in the Tacoma, my son was in a horrible crash in his 2002 Tacoma. His truck was purchased new by my best friend and sold to my son a few years earlier. My son ended up buying a 2002 Tundra but the Tacoma would have come in handy. I feel like I drive a lot, although I know I don't. I bought my 2011 Taco with 62K on it in 2017, which averages a bit over 10K per year. I was happy to find a truck I considered someone's garage queen or second vehicle because of the miles on it. Now that I've had it for 8 years, it now has 145K which still averages a little over 10K per year. I do meticulous maintenance on it hoping it will last me until I'm gone (I'm 71 now). My wife, OTOH, racks up miles like the 24Hrs of Lemans. Her 2018 Rav4 had 20K when she got it in 2020 and now has over 165K. While my truck has been completely trouble-free, her RAV4 just had to have the torque converter replaced, which is apparently a rather common issue on that car. Our champion high-miles car is the Sienna we bought new in 2006 that was our family vehicle and wife's primary driver and now is my daughter's car. It just rolled over 425K this past week, only uses half a quart between 5K oil changes. The flip side to the Sienna is the '99 Avalon I have, which was my Mom's car. We don't drive it much, we like our other cars better (it's a style thing). It has a whopping 46K on it.

Funny thing, I had the exact same Tacoma before I bought my 2019, except mine was a 2001. I sold it locally, and the guy still drives it around
