Selling my well loved & cared for Tacoma.

    Highlights:
Professionally installed remanufactured engine assembly has only 5k~ miles on it
Professionally installed full rebuilt transmission has only 21k~ miles on it

    Year: 2002
Model: 4x4. 3.64 liter engine, SR5, Xtra cab

    Current Mileage: 234,900

I'm the second owner. No major accidents & clean title. Has all factory body panels and original windshield. 1st owner was in Seattle and sold the truck at 110,000 miles, at which point I bought it, had the timing belt replaced, and brought it to California. The truck spent 2013-2019 in LA, and currently located in the SF Bay Area.. so no winters on this truck AFAIK.

Always had regular oil changes. Passed smog in April no problems there.

    Recent Work:

Replaced Knock Sensors, Knock Sensor Harness, Intake Plenum Gasket, Lower Intake Gasket, Coolant: 234,352 (Toy Auto Clinic - Redwood City) - I was getting a knock sensor code after the motor was rebuilt. Toy Auto is a very reputable Toyota shop, and I'm glad they got in there and got this sorted for me.

Remanufactured Motor, replaced O2 Sensor, AC Compressor, Spark Plugs: 230,228 miles - carries 4 year warranty from 11/23 (Motor assemble from LKQ, installed by D&D Automotive - Redwood City)

Brake Pads - Hawk Performance HB315Y.669 LTS Light Truck and SUV Street Brake Pads - September 2022 (Mileage estimate 220k~ )

Timing Belt, Water Pump & Gasket, Idler Bearing, Tensioner Bearing, Alternator Drive Belt, A/C Drive Belt, Power Steering Drive Belt: 214,606 - March 2020 (Toy Auto Clinic - Redwood City)

FULL Transmission rebuild including Torque Converter, Planetary gear, Valve Body, Bushings, Oil Pump, Filter, etc. replaced radiator as well: 213,756 miles, February 2020 (Redwood City Transmission)

Changed gear oil in front & rear differential, transfer case, greased zerks on driveline and rear shackles: 208k (July 2019)

    New Tires: Toyo Open Country ATII 265.75 R16 112T - mileage: 200k (March 2019)

New valve covers and gaskets: 158k (Toyota Dealership Marina Del Rey)

New Suspension: Old Man Emu Suspension Heavy: Nitrocharger Sport Rear Shocks, 110-220lbs. Cleaned throttle body, idle air control, mass air flow sensor, Installed new PCV valve, new throttle position sensor, spark plugs (all work done between 140-150k miles)

Wheels: SCS F5 Matte Jet Black 2.5” backspacing
ARE camper shellL just replaced the gas struts and 3rd brake light
Air Filter: AFE Power Magnum Flow Pro Dry-S Part Number 31-10013 (wash and dry as needed)

    Pinch weld mod

    All parts OEM / high-quality

I just shampooed all the upholstery, and cleaned the interior with a toothbrush! Has a Sony CD player in it that bluetooth syncs with your phone so you can make calls or listen to Spotify.

I love this truck - but I've got a family now and need an upgrade to haul my kids around.

Clear coat is peeling on topper, and paint is oxidizing on hood and roof of truck.

    Asking $15k.

With the timing belt, rebuilt transmission, and rebuilt motor - I think thats about what I've spent on this truck in the past few years :rain: Transmission job was $3k~, motor was $8k~

Let me know if you need more pics or want to come check it out. I'm on the peninsula.

Why did the engine need a rebuild?

Getting on the freeway one sunny morning to go help my friend build a set for his kid's high school play and the motor threw a rod I believe. It cracked the block and started spitting oil out on the drivers side. I had it towed to Toy Auto to diagnose it - unfortunately they were too busy and couldn't do the work so they referred me to D & D Automotive just down the street. Danny put in a remanufactured motor - motor was $5k and the work was $3k at that time.

Very surprising. The 5vz engine is considered to be pretty bullet proof. How many miles were on the replacement engine and how many have you added since?

Very surprising indeed - and I've always taken diligent care of my truck. I drove quite a bit in L.A. from 2013-2019 - roughly 10-15k miles per year, but since I moved to the Bay Area I haven't driven it as much. The truck had 200k miles on it when I moved up to the Bay.

AFAIK it's a high quality remanufactured motor - my options at the time were get a Japanese "JDM" engine with 50k~ miles on it for $3k~ or go with a higher quality <remanufactured> motor with a 4 year warranty for $5k. D&D placed the order for the motor, but I just sent an email to LKQ to get more info on it. I will DM you with info when I hear back from them - hopefully tomorrow.

Regarding mileage, the motor was replaced at 230.2k miles, and the truck currently has 234.9k miles...

Update: for clarity - the motor is remanufactured not "rebuilt." And the transmission was fully rebuilt including the torque converter, planetary gear, oil pump, valve body, bushings, filter, etc, My invoice for the transmission has a water stain where they list all the parts included in the job but I can call the shop to verify what else was done - just let me know. Transmission was rebuilt at 213.7k miles in January 2020.
