My less than 2k 2025 Off Road was sitting quietly parked on a cloudy 71degree day when a "pop" was heard and the entire rear window shattered in place. I contacted the dealer to see if it would be considered a manufacturer defect and have not had a reply. Anyone else with a similar problem?

I was thinking it could be a variety of external forces like that which could have been the cause. Thread title had me thinking the entire rear glass sperated and blew out while driving like the sealer was bad.

If no external cause of something hitting the glass, maybe a defect in the glass. I guess you could factor in tint applications and what ever type of cleaners being used or environmental conditions like heat or UV.

This doesn't seem to be a common issue, but you hear about it happening every so often. Some report a previous nick or defect on an exposed edge of the glass as the possible cause, others report it just seems spontaneous. Tempered glass will shatter, a laminated windshield can have a crack start at the spot of the defect: either at the edge or anywhere else at the spot of the chip. The center/middle glass on a slider has a lot of exposed edge on the left and right side of the panel prone to a nick or chip.

If the rear glass (edges) on your truck are surrounded by the rubber gasket like on the 2nd gen, I would think there is a good case for blaming the glass failure on a defect rather than a nick, chip or other accidental damage to the edge.

Happened on my 97 while driving. Never found out why.

Camper shell so pretty sure it was not from an exterior impact.

My guess is the back vent might have gotten stuck in close … if u build enough pressure in the cab it can blow out the rear window . Did u notice any resistance when closing door .

No odd pressures when closing the door, the truck had been sitting for a day when it popped

So I can’t address your issue specifically. However I’ve talked to a few people in my neighborhood who have had this happen. Several glass installers have said it’s because glass makers are making the rear glass windows extremely thin that they essentially just explode because they are so weak.
