Looking at a 2000 with 4x4 and locking rear diff and the following per seller-Suspension overhaul with old man emu heavy duty leaf springs, and new Bilstein shocks - new timing belt, water pump, thermostat, pulleys. - replaced the radiator - new cv axels -new ball joints - new brakes, fair buy @ $5,000? Body looks straight with horrible paint fade. 236,000 miles, am I buying problems? Just an extra car to take the dogs to the beach and around town. Only drive about 5,000 miles annually. Thoughts? Opinions? I'm not a mechanic but can do minor things.

Actually sounds like its priced too low, which to me screams the current owner wants to offload it for some reason

That truck in my neck of the woods would be $12k all day

What about rust? I agree with those who posted above, that sounds very cheap to me. Those first gens will run forever if cared for properly.

That sounds too low. The truck should probably be 8k.

My 2x4 with a very similar suspension setup and new tires just sold for 12k, but my truck is in really good cosmetic shape.

Check the frame , again check the frame really well . Then the usual stuff everywhere else. The price is good for sure . Go with your gut how the seller seems

I wouldn’t wait until tomorrow if you can make it work look at it today that’s a good price.

As others have said check for rust and take a OBDII scanner and check for recently cleared codes.

It's been advertised on Facebook Marketplace for 22 weeks, so don't need to rush! :) But, gonna check it out today when I'm in town.

Can you elaborate on this? Every ODBII scanner I have used (admittedly, around 5, between cheap hand helds, BT, and an SGII) lets you see pending codes and set codes, but not recently cleared codes. Once they are cleared, they are gone, unless there is an actual issue, and the code is either pending or set again.

22 weeks on wonderful marketplace. I have to agree with everyone. Inspect the frame and check for codes.

If you clear a code with an OBD-II scanner and the underlying problem persists, the code will likely reappear as pending or stored.
