NPS staff relocated to south rim and put into their respective positions. Hotel contractor staff… prob either sent to their other properties or let go.

Well the Cape house is a construction site. The landscaper is here finishing up on the punch list and starting a new section of the sidewalk. Painters arrived to scrape peeling paint off 2 bedroom ceilings, repair, and paint. And… Yesterday we found a significant leak in the bathroom sink resulting in a trip to HD to replace the sink and (you might as well) toilet. Maybe, just maybe, I might get to the beach one of these days.

Pretty much. I’m thinking the plumbing will be tackled on Sunday as it’s supposed to rain that day. I’ll have to make sure I have plumber’s crack that day.

Indeed these beasts are no joke. I learned about them when my Dad explained them to me on a small game hunting trip way out in the Mojave Desert, near the CA-NV line My Dad's Dad worked as a water pump station maintainer on the railroad, so my Dad grew up out in what is now the Mjoave National Preserve. He and I would go hunting for doves, quail, rabbits, chuckers a few times every year out in the same area by the New York mountains. Deer hunting, too, once I was old enough.

 

Last day of work before vacation!
Heading to the North Cascades for camping, paddle boarding,MTB riding and hiking. NEED to get away! No cell service where we are heading. Yay! But I do bring my handheld Ham radio. Just in case.
