I bought the taco a year and a half ago from the OO. It had 80 K on it. Has 100 K on it now. I changed the serp belt at 80,000 when I bought it. The AC compressor was swapped out at about 70 K by Toyota, I’ve noticed in the last month that mostly in the morning. I’m getting a squeal out of the serp belt. I just use my stethoscope on it, but I couldn’t hear anything odd. Are there any common issues with these that might be the problem? Tia

Sometimes the high pressure fuel pump makes a chirping noise, could possibly be that if not your belt.

May be the tensioners. I had to change them at 35k on a 2018.

Mine squeaks on any damp morning, even with a fresh belt. It goes away after a few seconds.

Thanks for the responses. I think I’ll bring it to the guy I use. I’ll report back my findings,

SOLVED: I took it to my Tech. He ended up just replacing the serpentine belt again. He tried to get one directly from Toyota, but they didn’t have any in stock. He ended up having to use a Dayco which was the same one that I used to replace it 20,000 miles ago. I guess the belt glazed over and basically failed.

Check your idlers, there are 3 on the 2GR-FKS. One of mine was failing and making a random squealing noise. After I replaced them, and the belt, the noise is gone. The belt shouldn't glazed on it's own in such a short time, there could be other issues, such as idler bearing failure.

Dayco makes belts for Toyota. It will be just fine.

However, belts don't just glaze and go bad in 20K, so you may find the problem is an underlying issue.
