Are there any full guides four ingress protection, particularly for the electronics and rust prone areas. ...wouldn't want to miss a spot...
How do you make a tacoma ready to set sail on the high seas?

    1. Go to Home Depot, or your preferred hardware store, buy a tube of marine grade adhesive, and a for sale sign
    2. Take off the Tacoma badge on the passenger side (it must be the passenger side)
    3. Sell your Tacoma
    4. Use the money you acquired from selling your Tacoma and buy a boat.
    5. Glue the passenger side Tacoma badge onto the left side of your boat (anywhere along the top 1/3) using the marine adhesive
    6. Enjoy the high seas on your Tacoma!

Edit: Keep us updated with your high seas adventures.

The Toyota Tacoma is able to ford through water up to a depth of 700mm, thanks to its specially sealed body and electrical system. This allows the Tacoma to tackle small streams and cross shallow floodwaters with ease.

High seas? Maybe a rethink is in order.

You start with moving the rear diff breather(I like by the gas fill neck) then you make sure all other breathers are connected and don't have any holes in the lines. That gets you to mid axle comfortably if you haven't chopped your front bumper in a way that funnels water into your intake.

Beyond that a snorkel can help but the electronics will probably end up being a problem before it's really even needed.

There are a few electrical bits and connections mounted at the frame level. Filling the connections with dielectric grease is probably a good thing to do. Wrapping them with a waterproofing tape is good for splashes but if submerged may not let any water that makes it in drain out. I haven't dug into moving these higher but it may be possible.

The ADD and transfer case both have exposed electrical actuators that are theoretically sealed but have been known to fail from water intrusion. They may benefit from liberal application if dielectric grease and sealing with silicone.

Moving higher there are 4? breathers(ADD, transfer case, transmission, front diff?) under the hood that can be raised even higher. Also loads of electronics and wiring to be concerned about. Dielectric grease is again your friend. Alternator is particularly likely to be damaged from water but not sure if there is a whole lot to do about it.

If water starts coming in your doors the fly by wire throttle, brake, etc mean your about to be screwed. I had another vehicle that would go into limp mode from a sunroof leak causing moisture in the throttle and that was very little water.

Would also love to hear from others on this. I have really only gone as far as the raising the rear diff. My deepest water crossing has only been 7in though so even that wasnt really necessary.
