GVWR

Hi all

Looking for some thoughts on GVWR.

2000 TRD 3.4 auto

I went to weigh my truck to see if I could accommodate some bumpers, only to realize I'm already essentially at GVWR(5100lbs) and when Im loaded for a trip with water, another bike, girlfriend etc I'm a few hundred pounds over. And now realizing I've been there for years and haven't seen any issues, but I just really wanted to get some thoughts to see how bad this is.

I know GVWR has a whole bunch of variables, and I know I have already addressed some of the variables like adding Tundra brakes, custom Alcan leafs for the bed load... What other components are at risk being over weight? Frame, wheel bearings? Is there anything more I can proactively address?

I have also regeared the truck to 4.56 so I generally run at lower RPMs, and have a light foot when driving, and hoping that plus the auxiliary trans cooler will help with any mechanical stress. The vehicle is no longer my daily driver, I just use it for camping and road trips. About 10k miles a year, currently at 199k miles

 

How much does Girlfriend weigh…

 

Fucking love this haha. She's like 130lbs.

I think I end up around 5400lbs when loaded
