Wish I never lifted my truck. All sorts of noises and weirdness. Help?

2013 Tacoma. I have an Eibach Pro lift that lifted the front 2.0ish inches. OME upper control arms and the ECGS bushing.
Have had it installed for a couple years now and wish I never did it.

The truck now steers very inconsistently. Going from normal to really stiff.

Had to replace one wheel bearing already.

At slow speeds it started making a clunking noise if you hit a bump with the wheel turned.
I brought it to the shop multiple times and they said they couldn't find anything. This has magically disappeared a couple weeks ago. Calm before the storm?

    The abs no longer works.

    It's a nightmare.

I guess one thing positive that came from it. I never in my driving life wore a seat belt. I trust this thing is going to catastrophically grenade at some point so every time I get in it, I now wear my seat belt.

I keep my stock Tacoma SR plain Jane. Those lift kits is asking for potential problems or issues. I know that Toyota recommends a lift be no more than 1.5" or so due to tranny, drive shaft considerations.

I think you should sell ur rig to a young buyer that is looking for a lifted rig then buy yourself another non-lifted rig.

    Now you know.

    So return it to stock.

Your steering sounds like an intermediate shaft issue. Related more to corrosion than lift.

Search will find quick cheap test and how to fix DIY if that's what it is.

In my nearly 20yrs of owning lifted Tacomas never have I had headaches like that. Sounds unrelated to the lift IMO. Most of my Tacomas have been mid or Long travel and 35-37in tires and daily drive down the road just fine, granted I'm not putting like 20k miles a year on them but wheel bearings have not been an issue, nor steering unless I'm beating on them on the trail.
If you really dont like your truck lifted, return it to stock. Nothing you've done sounds irreversible. In fact you could probably find someone that wants theirs lifted and willing to swap components with you.

Wheel bearings go bad in stock trucks too. As a matter of fact, a guy that I recently helped with installing his lift, found out the week before that both of his wheel bearings were bad.

Why doesn't the ABS work? If you don't know, how can you blame the lift?

As previously mentioned, if you don't like the lift, return to stock.

Plenty of people have lifts (me included) with no problems.

I did a search and couldn't really find anything about how to test it. I have sprayed it with deep creep a few times and it has helped some. Less so now.

I only drive like 10k miles a year. I've been off road in the thing maybe once.
I don't need a truck and will probably just trade it in.
    Stressing me out bad.

Oh, and the clunk could be body mounts by the radiator support, or maybe the lower shock bolt. Again, both of those problems exist on stock trucks.

Thanks for giving me some options to at.
I guess I was wrong with my assumption that Tacomas were reliable.

Lol. At least a Chevy would be cheaper to fix, no?

I've had better luck with Subaru's I've owned. Just hate that just about all of them are CVT now.

Lube is the test. Replace it.

Well, just be sure your next vehicle will be eternally perfect, or the stress will return.

But hey, seatbelt use is wise.

If you're fixing it constantly, is it really cheaper?

edit: I haven't heard that GM's shop rates are any lower than Toyota's

It's always been my opinion that if you're going to start modding your vehicle, you'd better know how to wrench on stuff.
As far as the ABS goes, have you crawled under the truck to have a look at your speed sensor wires, etc?

Reminds me of when I see (hear) someone drive by on huge swamper tires in the city. Unless the driver is deaf, they surely can't be enjoying the howl/noise as they go to pick up their groceries.

A stock truck is the baseline that the brilliant engineers at Toyota put a lot of time into figuring out. Every deviation from baseline is going to result in some side effect that has to be dealt with.

Sorry to hear your having issues. In the 18 years i've had my 07 just done general maintenence. Had my lift system on for 4 years now... had it professionally installed. Have yet to hear a noise up front or a squeak in back. Truck rides/handles awesome... way better than stock and seems to get better as it breaks in. Keep everything clean, lubricated, greased and rust proof. Have you retorqued and had a fresh alighnment lately?

clunking noise during a turn over a bump is probably just your tire hitting your cab mount, whats your wheel/tire combo/offset?
