I have a 2015 double cab TRD Off-road. My rear suspension is shot pretty bad it’s lead springs. I need to replace them but know nothing about that kind of stuff. Any recommendations?

Vehicle usage: Very occasional off-roading. Daily driver used for work. I have tools loaded in the back for electrical work nothing crazy heavy. Plus a leer bed cap.

Tires: anyone have any recommendations for tires? I live in the north east. I’ve been running BF Goodrich tires for the 102K miles I’ve had the truck. They work well and run a long time just curious what other people are using. They’re AT tires.

Roof rack: I want to get a roof rack for the Leer bed cap I have. Mostly for mounting a kayak etc. I have the channels already in the roof of my bed cap I just need the cross bars. Anyone have any good bars I should get?

If your not Looking to lift look for a good used set of a 3rd gen. They’re a direct bolt in. Guys are always unloading them.

I’d prefer not to get used honestly. A saw in another thread people were heavily recommending the Generalsprings leafs. https://www.generalspringkc.com/200...ner-heavy-duty-rear-leaf-spring-4-3-1-leaves/ Any experience with these? A lot of people said they were having good experiences with them. The prices isn’t bad at all. $500 for the full real set.

The springs you linked are 1.5” of lift and are heavy duty. Doesn’t mention the load rating for them ie: constant load of 200lbs . So I’d check on that so you down get a leaf that will be to stiff when empty.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Bandaid. Stock springs with a fiberglass cap and any extra weight are going to need to be replaced again sooner than later.

OP: Contact general spring and ask what kind of loading they would expect their springs to work well with. There are several other manufacturers that have springs, but most are designed around a lift. Maybe contact one or two and ask their opinion directly. Maybe @Crikeymike here on the board could offer up some help.

I’ll give them a call tomorrow. Although I did look through their Q&A and someone asked the same question.

Their answer was: Yes, these are heavy duty leaf springs which are 500 lbs stronger than the factory leaf springs. This will keep your Tacoma at a better stance with your canopy and when you add extra weight.

Money isn’t a huge issue. I’m not saying I can or want to shell out $1000s but if there is an option you guys are aware of that isn’t very high priced I’d consider it. This is my daily driver and I’m at a point where I’m upgrading it so it lasts me as long as possible.

Agreed. I didn’t see he had a cap on the truck.

I have a set of General Springs standard springs. They have been on the truck since around 2018 I think.
They are good springs. Definitely stiffer than stock. I have a cap and usually around 200lbs in the bed and sit level. I do have TRD pro front coilovers.
