Sooo that's why it looks like it's almost impossible to source parts to rebuild an old CH20 that smokes like a bong

 

At work we have a Kohler powered Miller stick welder/generator that is run on propane so we can run it indoors. It's darn hard to get the thing to start cold. You literally have to keep pulling the choke in and out like a teenager trying to get it to fire.

 

I had to do some quick trailer repairs this morning. I found this broke yesterday. 15 minutes later and its better than when I build it 10 years ago.

Welds could have been neater, but I was in a hurry. Got to get cleaned up for a great nephews birthday party.

Headed to Blowes with the wife to grab some yard crap and patio chairs for my family reunion we’re hosting in a couple weeks. See if I can taco my taco. After burying my dog I dug up part of the lawn so I’m just doing some patch up soil and seed near him. I got a dirt stash but I used all my screenings and don’t feel like picking out all the sticks and debris every shovel full for top dressing so I’m grabbing a handful of lawn dirt. I normally either screen my dirt, which is pretty rich stuff I stripped off a clearing project I did on my west side, or order a load of topsoil from my buddy up the road but this is a small patch and I’m just gonna bag it. So here is on for you guys. Not 100% what happened but had some contaminants get into the fuel on the tractor. The fuel was new out of the pump, but I am guessing the jerry can had rusted on the inside or something. The tractor was bogging down randomly and after changing the fuel filter and cutting it open, it was clearly from that. So I drained out the fuel tank and line and now have ~5 gallons of the old diesel. (tractor runs perfect now).

So figured id see what you guys usually do with your old fuels? Filter it? Just dispose of it? (not an option by me...nobody takes it) Use it for something else? Mix it with "new" fuel?

Forgot to add for myself...Ill keep it as a heavy degreaser for parts before they go in the parts washer.

 

I cut off about an 1/8" of the pin to help with fitment. It functions exactly like I planned it to.

 

Diesel has a long shelf life. If no water in it, just filter it and use it.

 

I use it to kick start the Burn Pile.

 

I have one of these for filtering suspect fuel. I've never used it for diesel, but it works great for gasoline.

Thats actually pretty cool. Course Ive only ever needed one like once or twice lol.

 

It was long ago but some guys from the GWN I worked with told me they’d undercoat their vehicles annually with a diesel and used motor oil solution. Others use diesel as a wood preservative on trailer beds. Again old school uses. That quantity I’d try to salvage it by filtering.

 

Wife wanted some more chairs for the patio table so yes dear.

 

Morning y'all had a mishap Saturday with the little JD. Somehow 1 of those hwy reflectors made out of metal and reflector. Somehow made it's way to the grass along the road . Guess who hit it with almost brand new Gator blades. Took some pretty good chunks out of 1 blade. Cleaned it up but it's not ever going to be right again. Still works but will need more work in the future. Oh by the way I wouldn't have been there had the state contractor mowed like he was supposed to have done instead of driving over it and pretending to cut it.
