Sort of an unusual question but...

Ideally, I'd like to replace this seal (part 6483104010), as it is now mis-shapen in this curled up/bent position (see image) that doesn't sit in its position on the rear window. But the part is discontinued and I cannot find an aftermarket equivalent anywhere online. I could source it at the junkyard, but whatever I find may well be just as damaged, or more so (I don't live near a yard).

Anyway, my question: is it possible to salvage this seal by straightening it with moderate heat or some other method? The thick side is rather stiff and I wondered if I might soften and straighten it somehow. Thank in advance!

    Try auto glass vendor

    if that doesn’t work
Could clean and manually bend to your liking
Then spray/wipe on a silicone spray
    I use Black Magic
I HAD to use on a 1970 mc for various rubber parts(grips/foot pegs) that are NLA
The silicone absorbs into the rubber makes the rubber much more pliable

Great thank you. I'm going to start with a silicone spray, maybe then try a bit of heat. Question @ControlCar: What Black Magic product do you use specifically? I see a number of them.

I would use Vaseline and coat it generously, set it in the hot sun for two hours or more and it should soften up enough to straighten it.

I had some old window runs that I wanted to save for a resto project and soaked them in aerospace 303 for about a day. I just put it in a tray and laid the part in it.
Avoid anything silicone based because it reacts with the rubber and appears to be softening it up but its more of a run away reaction.

    yes
    Agreed
If left too long soaking in silicone, will expand too much. I have experienced this with very thin gaskets (mc tail lamp gasket)
Heavy/thick rubber…..I guess could happen if soaked too long

    here are my grips/pegs
Sprayed in ziplock and waited a week b4 I cleaned excess off and then light hit of Armour All

You’d think someone would figure out how to make that damned piece of weather stripping by now and be marketing it. I’d sure buy one.

Following up: I applied AT-205 Re-Seal to this seal and left it overnight stretched in a straight position (AT-205 Re-Seal is what I had lying around in my garage). Today, 95% of the curling is gone, just the very ends are still curled up a bit.

The AT-205 did seem to dissolve much of the felt-y liner on the inside of the seal (I didn't even notice this liner until after the AT-205 application). My guess is that liner is to keep the glass moving smoothly on the truck and prevent scratching, but I almost never open that window anyway.
