Only downside I've found to that setup is the pinion seal on the front dif likes to weep. Replaced it a couple times now

I ordered hubs, going to give this a go before ordering RCV's. TBH... the only reason I really wanted to keep the manual hubs is because I LOVE how they look .

It’s been a while. Shop is busy as hell. But, finally getting around to making this steering idea come to life.

All .250 and .190 4130, 5/8 inner hardware to match the outer, inner pivot 1” forward and absolutely zero bump steer. If this works as we hope, it should be pretty baller.

I would have preferred to keep the manual hubs as well, but converting spindles to ADD was the only way to get RCV's under the truck unfortunately.

It’ll work. I was suggested something similar based on one of the low budget 4600 bronco teams a few years ago. This is the ideal steering rack setup that maintains mechanical component with hydro assist. Anyone with a slide rack should be able to relatively easily modify to throw a double side ram in there.

12pt hardware is so sexy. Really sets yourself apart.

if my truck wasn’t lacking in so many other areas, I’d be slowly replacing everything with 12pt

It will definitely work. My main question is will the stock servo handle driving the ram or not. If not we probably just depower the rack all together and do an inline on the steering shaft.

I use the imposter bolts. Been very happy with the quality of these.

I finally got bigger tires 2020 Long Travel Tacoma 1997 MAGNUM
Pulled the rear axle, front suspension, and some other small things off the truck to get it prepped for new shit.

Pulled the old blown up 3rd member out. I bent the ring gear, took teeth off, and the pinion is basically smooth. When that happened I guess the bearings blew and started rubbing on the housing. We had to hang it from an engine hoist and bang the housing off with a sledge.

Getting the new axle re geared to 5.29. I will start prepping the new axle for a disc brake kit. The front lower pivots will be soon cut off to make room for the jd pivot kit. The dash and headliner still need to be pulled for the cage.

If anyone needs any stock interior parts lmk haha

What’s the word on BajaKits stuff? They make a kit for the tundra that’s pretty intriguing. There also the camburg kit, but idk

Steering is finally in its home. Cycles very smooth with no binding. Plumbing is a bit of a challenge, but you can’t win them all.

Check out the difference in tie rod length from the typical heim steering setup. Almost a full inch longer. The tie rod length is the main reason we were able to eliminate all bump steer from this setup.

Finally got the batteries (2x 27M) relocated to the inside of the cab, gained close to 3/4" in ride height..

JD are pretty good to work with as far as making stuff compatible. Dave worked with me for some 2" Steering Adapters to work with their Double Sheer Outer Kit when I had my 2+ AllPro kit.
