Me. I would try epoxy. Maybe run a few screws for reinforcement. If it doesn’t work there is always the replace it route.

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
I realize this is necromancing a thread, but this thread came up in a search for me a couple hours ago, so I thought I would add some info. It's not the same problem as OP, but it might help someone.

I went out to my '22 truck to get a tool from the bed this morning and when I pulled on the handle for the second panel release, I felt a 'pop' that was different from all the other times. The panel did not release, and the handle was now loose. Visions of broken plastic dancing in my head, I went directly to Tacoma World, because all the info is here.

On lunch, I opened the bed, crawled in to release the cargo straps, puled out the appropriate toolbox for the Torx drivers (T25 - security bit NOT necessary) and laid on my back to open the housing. Once I got it open, I was very happy to discover no broken plastic, just a cable that popped out of the retainer.
