For me, low to the ground means diff hitting the oil pan so it's a deal-breaker.

Today's job make sure my driveshaft doesn't go on vacation

^Yeah solid axle swaps on earlier-gen trucks usually included a different oil pan and dipstick with more axle clearance.

Driveshaft is square tubing or is that just something you mocked up?

Driveshaft is square tubing. Was used for over 6 years in my 4 runner and it has to do for now until I can get a proper one made up.

it’s mostly just cursing, rust in my face, and red knuckles instead of a build thread, lol.

Today has been an absolute fuck show. Fucking China-made Rock Auto gas tank straps don’t even fit lengthwise—seriously, what the fuck? Got so fucking pissed, I just chopped them up. The plan is to extend them and weld them up. Then, in the process of being fucking mad at that I cross-threaded the gas tank bolts on one side of the cab - the angle is weird while balancing gas tank and trying to bring in the short strap end there. Can’t even get a tap in there unless I take off the rusty muffler—which, fucking fuck that, I’m not replacing that right now. So, I drilled straight through the top of the cab to drop the damn fucking tank bolts through the cab this way. Didn't finish, tank is still floating on a jack and 2x4s there in the air, went to grab a beer. Taking a break. I’ll deal with this shit show in the fall. :bananadead:

Oh, and to top it all off, the rear exhaust on the T4R rusted out right after the muffler, so now it dumps straight onto the diff. Fucking perfect.

I fucking hate cars :) :nuclear:

My GRN215L still has all its original exhaust from exhaust ports to tailpipe. Looks a bit funny in some places where I've repaired/reinforced it but it's leak-free and silent.

On the topic of rants, why does it seem the slowest drivers on the 400-series highways have the brightest, most poorly aimed headlights?

On the GRN285L, the wheel speed sensor wires are right above the post-muffler pipe flange. Check if yours is routed the same way. I put a DEI 010405 reflective heat wrap over it.

Which brand of fuel tank straps did you get? I noticed in the Rock Auto listing info that the Dorman strap is an inch shorter than Spectra.

The Spectra straps fit fine on my 4R, though obviously it's a more common model.

Probably the same design, I plan on a doing 45* degree pipe with a clamp to face it down.

I just checked where I got it, it was actually A-premium from Amazon lol... You would never expect companies to fuck up such a simple thing ...
Either way - this sucks and time to extend/weld them up.
