    Hey everybody,

New member here, but have used this forum for years to look up things about my pickup.

Currently I’m pretty stumped chasing this gremlin of a vacuum leak. Whenever my truck is cold and I drive it (running late) I sometimes notice it bogs a bit anywhere below 2500 rpm. I recently have replaced my egr valve due to the dreaded P0401 code, to which did not remove the code (yes I have reset it since) my next suspect is my vacuum lines themselves. Upon initial inspection I have decided to order new ones to replace as they are cracked and looking about as mint as 26 year old silicone lines do. I tried spraying brake cleaner with my engine at idle at my “problem” spots on the hoses/connections only to not have any result. When I press my gas pedal I can hear a faint whistle coming from what seems to be right near my new egr valve. Going to try again in the morning when the truck is cold before work, but is there any chance the egr gasket could be bad? Do the egr valves even have gaskets? Or am I missing a suspect hose? Any insight is greatly appreciated. 1999 Tacoma 3rz 4x4

Could be the port on the intake clogged up with carbon, where the EGR bolts up. Mine was reduced to about 1/4” when I cleaned mine. And yes EGR has gaskets.

    OP
Those EGR gaskets IIRC there’s 3
Don’t waste your time with autozone/hoeriellys
    I did. BAD IDEA
Had to try to cut/shape gasket (that has inr layer of copper) to attempt to seal
    Was a disaster
AM basically don’t fit worth a poo
My taco down 4 days waiting on OE gaskets
    GL

Thatt is going to roast me for procrastinating NOT cleaning my RGR... lol
But I have think I prepared myself and have the OE gasket part# somewhere ……
