SOTEC || Newbie Run 101, Aug 24th, 2025

A wise friend of mine once told me ''you never stop learning'' so this is your chance to either embark on your first 4WD adventure as a beginner or take on a moderate challenge to test out your driving skills.
Use this opportunity to get to know other club members and get to see first-hand what off-roading is all about.

This years Newbie Run 101 will be at the well-known 5 Points Trail System near Bobcaygeon and it is open for everyone.

The event will consist of 3 levels of difficulty (Infancy, Childhood, Adolescence) so you can pick what suits you best. Trails will be led by your favorite SOTEC childcare providers and a quick, trail-side vehicle recovery talk will take place for the 2 easier runs. The Adolescents... well you are on your own.

Groups are the following:

Infancy (no modifications or experience required)
Old Logging trail -> Five Points Fire Road A -> PICARD LK TRL

Childhood (skid plates and recovery points are a plus, and some experience might come in handy)
Old Logging trail -> Five Points Fire Road A -> PICARD LK TRL -> PENCIL LAKE TRL

Adolescence (modifications required, experience nice to have, but even better to have at least 33" tires)
Concession Lake -> Five Points Fire Road A -> Crystal Lake Revised -> Loom Lake -> Salmon Burn -> PICARD LK TRL

Our exit point is here for everyone: 44.82313, -78.37986 approx 5:30ish PM

From there, we'll inflate the tires, bid farewell to those not joining us for camping, and head towards (TBD campsite depending on group size), where we'll camp Saturday night.
