Nice looking cars. My Frog needs some attention. The body definitely looks like a 12 year old that had no clue what he was doing did it, lol. Maybe a winter project. I tried picking up some of the vintage stuff off Ebay years ago when prices were somewhat reasonable but kept getting outbid. When I bought mine I had it narrowed down to the Datsun Big Bear, The Frog and The Wild One. A couple friends had buggies so I figured the Big Bear would be out of place. Kind of wishing I would have gone with the Wild One but the Frog was a pretty good car.

They're all great aren't they? Tamiya's may not have the most insane performance but they have such character. I know what you mean, the prices have gotten insane on OGs. I don't work in that world. I only buy stuff I can currently buy new. We have an Amain Hobbies warehouse in Charlotte and I get stuff in a single day which is amazing.

The Frog is such an icon and so fun to drive. The way it splats down on the ground on a jump, like a real frog. Just awesome. I'm trying to refine my body painting skills. It's not easy! But practice helps.

I didn't have a paper route when I was 12, but I mowed yards to get my Tamiya Fox and Airtronics two-stick transmitter. It wasn't for another four years later that I bought an XL2P pistol grip radio and a partially assembled Kyosho Optima. I don't have my original Fox or Optima, but I do have a re-re Fox. I've been putting off getting a re-re Optima, but it's definitely on my wish list.

I always wanted a Frog and didn't get one until I got a re-re a few years ago. Painted it in the same livery as race-grade RC cars. Soon after I built it, I did some laps at our local turf track (RIP) in between heats. LOL...

I think I have a Blackfoot in parts in my garage. I should try and get that back together. I think I have everything but the body.

Nothing beats that trademark whine of a Tamiya. The pouncing the those Frog tires and the whine of the motor, I just love it.

I'm tempted to buy another Tamiya kit just to have something to put together. Everything I've bought since my Frog has been ready to run. When I got back into it I was surprised that kits were few and far between. Don't get me wrong, it's cool that you can bring something home and be running it in short order. But having to build a kit from scratch really added to the "hobby" feel and made it seem like less of a toy. On the other hand, with the performance of some of the ready to run stuff and the amount of stuff I've broken a lot of my vehicles have almost been built from scratch anyways, lol. My T-Maxx was in multiple pieces about 10 minutes after break in.

Don't tell my wife but I get excited when I break something. It means an upgrade is in the mail!

Yeah I'm very anti RTR for the most part. I was looking at the HPI BMW ///m3 (e30) and it's RTR. You can buy the creators kit but I think that's already partially built as well.

Tamiya builds are great. This TA-08 was a challenge in some areas but in the end it came together nicely and I love the sound of the belt drive, it just purs.

Still kicking myself for not picking up the Tamiya Black Landcruiser a number of years ago. I think the kit was CC40 or something like that. They have a version out that is yellow now but it isn't a nice. Might be another winter project. Can change a few things and make it look a little more rugged. Bought a work bench for the basement a number of years ago so I could work on my rc stuff in the winter. So far it's been used for storage, lol

Funny you mention the workbench thing, I'm in the market. I really want a Global Industries but they are PRICEY. I may pick up this one:
WORKPRO 48" Adjustable Workbench, Rubber Wood Top Heavy-Duty Workstation, 2000 LBS Load Capacity Hardwood Worktable with Power Outlets, for Workshop, Garage - Amazon.com

I def need one. I hate using my desk for dual purpose, work and hobby.
