I bought the Veepeak obd reader and the Carscanner ELM app for my 05 Tacoma. App connects and read once but now it won't give any readings back. It's connected as the app is showing voltage at the scanner. Any help to get the app to read and keep it reading?

Maybe more info. After first installing and connecting the rpm, temp, all read and started climbing, ground speed showed 0 but I wasn't moving. I added some dashboard items and was playing back and forth with settings but now nothing reads. I'm pretty sure it's connected as it says connected and the voltage is reading.
I chose this app as it's free and if the scanner didn't work I didn't want to be out money for an app. If Fusion works better and consistently on an 05 they I'll gladly pay to upgrade.
