I have a 07 tacoma 2wd 2.7 i did a head gasket on. Ran fine but after reassembling it wont start and has a cam sensor circuit code P0340. Grounds are connected. Have a good ground on the pigtail at sensor. What am i missing?

Was the sensor installed and hooked up? Engine won't start without a good signal for cam position. Or you could have installed timing chain wrong. Do you have a shop manual? The DTC troubleshooting process is in there.

You can check resistance of the coil but my guess is the timing is off since it ran before and now doesn't run after messing with timing chain/cam.

That code is set in the absence of a crank signal.
I suspect a bad cam sensor, or a wiring issue to/from the ECM.
If it were timing, You'd likely have a Timing code, not a signal failure code.

I'd disconnect the Cam Sensor, disconnect the E4 plug at the ECM and then Jumper the pins on the connect at the Can sensor. (C1 Plug below)
Next go to EMC E4 plug and check resistance/Continuity between pins 26 and 34.

    Pin 26 - Blue Wire
    Pin 34 - Green Wire

Sensor is installed and pluged in. Double checked my timing marks. It seems to want to start occasionally. Should there be voltage going to the sensor?

No. It’s a wave forum generated by the pick up on the front of the camshaft. You can’t really check it without a scope.

All you can do is resistance checks without a scope.
