6”rough country lift, 35” bfg mud terrain, step bars, home made solid 5" bull bar frame mounted top and bottom with gussets ( used an excavator to completely suspend the truck in the air held only by the bull bar), 180k, no rust, no leaks, no cel's, no issues. 4wd conversion with front and rear e-lockers.
So on my 3.4l i have been trying to fix the oil leak that i can absolutely not apparently. Ive replaced the oil cooler seals, valve cover gaskets with half moons and cam caps using the toyota stuff. But cannot get the driver side of the motor to stop leaking oil which gets all over everything to behind the tranny. So its not a drip kind of leak and only under pressure because theres no oil drips on the ground like an active leak. The odd part which is why im posting this is the truck runs fine, no missfires, oil and coolant are fresh and never mix, never had the milkshake but right at the bottom of the head all around the drivers side area the oil starts showing. Above that is clean.. but never thought a head gasket could only leak outside of the motor and not get in any cooling passages or leak any coolant outside either.. could it be coming out the exhaust header if its cracked or something? If it is the exhaust leak isnt sub mmstantial enough to be heard.. tired of oil being all over the wheel, caliper, steering rack, transmission, frame just everything keeps getting the cake on it.. pisses ya off when you have to work on it at all..

Has anybody heard of head gaskets pushing oil out like this or is there something or sonewhere else im missing letting the oil out?? Like i said its not enough to even show on the dipstick but enough to fully coat everything after a good drive.. i know the cam seal has a small leak in the front but if thats the whole issue then the oil is somehow completely staying off the head and only showing up on the block and everything below that mark.. i guess it keeps the rust away but annoying none the less..

My first thought is replace the PCV valve and check the hose.

Maybe this would be a situation where the UV dye could be useful. Add it to your oil, then run the engine and check with a UV light after to more precisely trace back to the source.

Should be able to definitely delineate if the cam seal is the culprit or if rather you've got a real unusual external head gasket leak.

    Hmmmm

    on Subaru EJ25’s 2000-2009
    Common problem
Not failing….not causing overheating or engine dmg….but leaking/seeping oil
    So have heard of this
Not typical (nvr heard on 3.4)

    IMO
    Bc you said L “wheel/caliper”
    I’m going with L head cam seal(s)
    remember
The cooling fan and motion of vehicle will spray that crap oil everywhere

Best way to locate general “area “ of this seepage is to blow $16 on several cans of your favorite degreaser/brake clean
Power wash the L side of engine
    Then monitor

u will see the general area then focus in on that area….do this b4 starts coating wheel/caliper

That’s how I found my cam seal leak on my Forester. Totally clean from pressure washing, then saw pretty big/fresh drips from behind plastic TBelt cover on L side
