I have a stock 2018 OR double cab with 105k miles. I've only owned it two months. I'm not sure what kind of action it saw before I bought it. I've also never driven a Tacoma before this so I'm unfamiliar with how the ride/suspension is supposed to feel. I've noticed the ride is kind of rough around town/pavement, especially when hitting bumps at a higher speed. I haven't taken it off road yet.

What are the signs and symptoms I should look for when the shocks/springs need to be replaced? Should I start saving for a replacement?

If hasn’t been abused 105k is nothing on a stock suspension. You don’t mention the tires/wheel type, they play a significant role with ride quality. Otherwise the stock suspension, if all is right, should be a nice comfortable experience on road. If not, check to see if your bumpstops are worn out ….usually an indicator that the suspension has seen better days.

I have stock wheels and tires (265 70R16). Tires were new when I bought it this May. Thanks for the advice. I'll check the bump stocks.

While you’re down there check for oil on shocks and excessive corrosion or cracked/broken springs. Otherwise, all being good and the tire pressures are reasonable you should have a comfortable and confident feel with the truck.
Edit: also check the bushings for cracks/splits

At 105k miles, I would be saving up for a set of shocks possibly a whole new set of springs too. It's all about your preference for ride quality, and the condition of your current shocks. Does the truck bounce when hitting bumps, or when you jump on the rear bumper when in your garage or driveway? A bounce may indicate the shocks are at end of life.

Bouncing over bumps means new shocks. 195K miles, stock suspension. Shocks replaced once. New rear springs for factory recall.
