    IMG_0692.jpg Hello,
Total noob question. I am installing an anytime front camera and I have to extend some of the wiring for the camera switch to reach on the side panel. I think they made it for it to fit right under the ac controls. But I have no room for a switch there. So just wondering if I can use solid wire instead of stranded wire that’s included in the kit. Will it be an issue if I combine the two?

You generally don't want to use solid wire in the automotive environment. Vibrations could lead to the wire breaking.

Thank you. Thats being worst case, just them breaking and having to change em out? I’m more worried about it causing a fire or something haha. I already have em installed and everything seems to be working ok so far..

you've got a $60k pickup truck, and you're throwing discount household romex at it?

just get some stranded wire, and do it correctly. there's a reason it's the correct method.

there's the risk of the wire breaking, but depending on the gauge of solid core, the added stiffness of the copper can potentially cause chaffing issues on other factory wires, which could result in massive repair bills-- because the official shop procedure for damaged wires is to replace the entire harness, not repair small sections.
