I'm not versed on battery box sizes.

Is a group 24 a battery box the size that a lawnmower battery will fit in? It's the size I need.

A group 24 is the "standard" car battery size like a Tacoma uses, group 27 is the usual size for a deep cycle/boat battery & sometimes a "heavy duty" option in vehicles.

i run a winch cover, sort of like a propane tank cover, whenever the trailer is parked. my theory is that it'll keep the rain from screwing up the winch.

but just like the propane tank covers, i just make sure i remove it during the time i'm using it.

i'm specifically using this one currently on the trailer.

i tried this one, but it's a more plastic-y material i don't like, and is really designed for full size 10,000 pound winches. instead, it works great as a cover for my metal miter saw.

i'm planning on using a plastic 50 cal ammo box. it's the right size, and far more water-tight, with nicer latches, and cheaper than any official battery box option.
