@Speedytech7 any recommendations on electrical pin kits for a 1st gen? I specifically need to repin the connector for the license plate light (I think it uses Weatherpack pins?) but I might as well get a nice general-purpose kit for the money on Amazon.

    Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Connector-Terminal-Automotive-Electrical-Removal/dp/B0CRR3GGF1/

I already have decent depinning and crimping tools. Might need to buy a new die for the crimper though (Klein), I need to check what I have again.

Remind me tomorrow and I will look at the kit we have in the garage, I don't believe any weatherpack pins are used with thew normal Toyota, Denso, Yazaki connectors on the harness tho.

    Will-do.

You're right, upon reviewing what a weatherpack connector looks like, it definitely isn't that. I saw the rubber seals and jumped to bad conclusions.

I don't think the farmers would get much use out of that

There's probably a much cheaper method, but I've just been buying OEM terminal repair wires and new connectors whenever I have electrical repairs.

I found the part number for the right repair wire in another thread, but the packs of pins are cheap and I'm pretty sure I have enough wire left that I won't need to extend the harness. Any time I can avoid splicing wires is a win in my book.

Those of you that grill often, what's the allure with Santa Maria grills?

Not just that I see them often on MP, but even in the CNC and other groups.

And they look really simple to make too so it's weird to see why people spend so much on them.

It’s mostly a gimmick IMO but the heat control versatility is pretty unique, you can sear, slow cook and everything in between with a decent amount of smoke. Not like it’s hard to get the heat moving in either direction on a traditional grill or smoker, but it’s instant on those. Mostly though it looks cool and is fun to play with.

People pay crazy money for them and smokers for that matter, if you are considering a new KwikGrill subsidiary??

So it seems like all the extra slots, vents, etc found in Santa Maria grills just aren't common in generic brand grills?

Makes sense why you see all those spring handles on them.

I wouldn't make one on account that it'd sit here and I wouldn't know how to market it, or who to market it to outside of just posting it on FB MP. Then I wonder if it's worth making one for myself or just buying a grill since there are times where I value my own time much more.

I just see them listed for a lot, and while some guys claim they're selling them for $1,200 - 2,000, I can't confirm how true that is.

It feels like way more of a show than a practical piece to me… Fun for having family/friends over but getting that much mesquite or charcoal going any time I want a burger, probably not gonna happen.

A friend that owns a restaurant recently paid ~$6k for a smoker that looks like a big old propane tank cut open and some legs/wheels and a fire box welded on to it… It’s not even a BBQ joint, he just wants to play with it once in a while and then go all out for the Super Bowl. Those people are out there but no idea how to find reliable/repeatable access to them.

Looked that up. Looks way over-complicated for what it is?

Me, I'm simple and easy. I do have my collection though. Gas, charcoal, or pellet. I have way less in both :anonymous:

Pretty quick pass on this one. When I got there the driver-rear fender flare had been removed, exposing the large rust hole underneath it. Interior was clean, engine looked good (I didn't drive it), I expect it'll still sell quickly at close to asking price.

This is the pin kit we keep in the shop. It's had like 80% of them in the past and the pictures are good so if you see your PIN style you should be good. Most of the pins in here are good for the common Toyota Mazda and Honda connections.

And then here are the crimpers I use for most butterfly stuff.
