For science, I have 12.5k miles on my SR5. My driving is mostly “city” (under 60 mph) road driving. Almost every time I have refueled my gauge says 350 mi of range, it is pretty accurate with that reading based on chicken scratch calculations.
The only reason I say almost is I did take a 2k mile road trip with it and since I was doing all highway driving, the gauge said 400 miles. Which again, was pretty darn accurate.
I’m not exactly sure how the gauge is programmed but I’m assuming it’s some sort of predictive model based on past driving, that updates based on real time driving while you are using the current tank.

It should also be noted I drive like a grandpa. Coasting to red lights, moderate acceleration from stops, not much excessive braking/accelerating.

    hope this helps.

Three gallons left in the tank isn't much and can cause problems. I would never let it get that low.

A few weeks ago my daughter-in-law was taking my granddaughter to an event. She was low on gas but also running late. There was a gas station across the street from where she was going so she decided to buy gas on the way home. She parked on an incline, nose down. After the event her car wouldn't start. The remaining gas had all gone to the front of the tank and the fuel pump couldn't pick up any.

A guy with a truck and a tow strap pulled her car onto level ground where it started. She still had about 3 gallons in her tank when she filled up.

When that low you could have the engine stop from hard braking, driving up a steep hill or aggressive cornering. People don't always drive on level roads.

The fuel level readout on the dash in mine (2025 SR) stays at full for about the first 150 miles after filling up before any movement. The numerical DTE value is accurate though.

I only have four fill ups so far and let the tank run down to where the DTE is below 40 miles of range. Most ive put in is 15.364 gallons and least is 14.201 gallons. Im going 350 miles if not more before filling up and that's with 100-150 miles of towing 3,000lbs per tank.

My lifetime average according to the computer is 24.6-25mpg so far. It dips as low as 24.6mpg on the last day of the week I tow and climbs back up to 25mpg before I tow again. The first three tanks I kept track of hand calculated out between 24.7mpg and 24.9mpg, so id say the truck is pretty accurate aside from the dash fuel level readout.
