They did indeed respond to my email with dimensions. I won't post them because they are willing to answer when asked. Unfortunately it looks like it won't work with the rubber seals that come factory in the 95 4runner aluminum master cylinder I am using and does not come with new seals. I will need to get the one I designed made. Not all aluminum master cylinders are the same lol.

It's mainly because I enjoy everything I do, whether it's the drawing, cutting, bending, or welding.

There's something fun about taking someone's idea and bringing it to fruition.

That and I retired nearly 4 years ago with the intent to focus on things that'll aid in my own mental health, and be a stay at home dad to my now 2 year old.

It's been great so I definitely don't want to change things.

The whole "doingwhateverthefuckIwant" part is a game changer for mental health. When my hands are busy, my brain doesn't have time to think of stupid shit.

Just need to buy some 3/16" to cut the legs and bottom mount from and I'll be closer to a complete set.

Is there a drill/tap chart that you all use, a gold standard? I've looked at several charts and get different numbers(letters). I need to pickup a couple taps, was looking at the Tap+drill bit 2packs, when I see this review and started looking into the right size bits.

    Tap size minus pitch

    eg: an m5x0.8 tap is 5mm-.8mm= a 4.2mm drill

works for inch too just metric is an easier example

3/8-24 tap is 1/24=.0416 (1” divided by the TPI= your pitch)

.375-.0416= .3334 (letter Q drill as its the closest size .332”)

I've seen that method as well which is another data point that's different than others.

LittleMachineShop shows 3/8-24 needing a S(0.3480) drill under 50% thread for steel, and Q (0.3320) drill under 75% thread for aluminum[other soft materials]

    LincolnMachine - 3/8-24 - Q drill
    Mform - 3/8-24 - S drill

75% thread is what you want to use with cutting taps for the best fit/strength

Im sure theres reasons to run a smaller thread percentage but its application specific.

Edit* all the charts we use at work are all 75% thread but sometimes we’ll run the holes a little bigger for harder steels but usually shooting for like 70%

Ok so based on this and littleMachineShops chart, I don't have to buy drillbits. I have a set of metric bits, a 8.5mm(0.334646in) would land close enough to a Q(0.3320) drill, but still be close enough to 75%.

Ya with taps that big and fine of thread u could go like plus minus .005”.
Generally we try to go a little on the bigger side so its easier on the tap.

When in doubt, refer to the metal bible.

order a big wall chart from starrett, they send them out for free. it will list the over and under sizes for each tap and clearance hole as well
