What do you mean you didn’t know? Copart states on their website that they are not responsible for undisclosed damage codes, but that’s not true regarding flooded vehicles as they are a seller.

There are state and federal laws regarding selling flooded cars, it has to state that on the title. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explains that it is legal to resell a flood-damaged vehicle - but only if the defect is noted on the title. This means that you will also have to disclose that it was flooded if you want to sell it, even if you fully repair it as you’re liable also. And to be honest, hardly no one would want to buy it for any type of a standard used vehicle price, and perhaps only a wrecker would take it, if you decide to sell it.

You may be able to get a refund if it was not disclosed, also check your state laws regarding this as they might be stricter than the national ones.

i mean i didnt REALIZE it was totally my fault i was messing around with several trucks during the auction and by mistake i offered and Won the flooded one o_O is my very first time with a TAcoma ive seen people use and abuse tacomas offroad and water crossing so i thought it wouldnt be so bad or difficult to fix it, the thing is im looking if some body has experienced something similar changing computers and combi meter if i can just chang those? (the stereo seems to be fried too 4x4 module air condition, inverter) but those arent necesary to start up the truck even if i get a lot of check engine lights. i haver been reading several electronic experts like

You would need a bi-directional scan tool with access to the latest Toyota software and the knowledge of how/when to use it. This is already going to be a very expensive project with a questionable outcome if you do all the work yourself. Based on the context of your posts, people are actually trying to help you by suggesting 'get rid of it'. Flooded vehicles are typically nightmare level projects.

I guess if you live in a non-inspection state you could take everything out and exchange it all for an entirely different motor, transmission and 4wd train. There’s a couple people in here that have done at least a tranny swap. A diesel Tacoma with an old manual FJ cruiser tranny would be pretty cool.

oh, I just thought of something really bad, you’re probably looking at having to put in all new airbags as well. Either that or pull them all out and not use them. Just those malfunctioning alone are gonna give you all kinds of headaches.

Flood vehicles are almost always electrical nightmares, if it was flooded in saltwater it's probably not gona be worth it unless your prepared to replace nearly every single electronic component and harness in the truck that was submerged.

Really gona need a decent scan tool that can access all modules on the truck for starters so we can see what talks, what doesn't, what codes we have, and what data parameters are reading.

Is it key or pushbutton start?

These vehicles are deemed a total loss for a reason, they require more work than they’re worth. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

My C6 Z06 was a complete submarine during the Harvey floods in Houston back in 2017. The guy who bought it at auction called and asked me a few questions about it. He was told the car had minor flooding, barely had water in the car. He was shocked when I told him it was in 6 ft of water.

Sell that Taco, you will have problems forever.

How high is the water line on the truck? It sound pretty deep. The motor, trans, axles, transfercase have any water in them?

lot of questions ill try to answer all of them i live in texas so inspection is not required anymore i paid 16 k for it, it was not submerged in salt water by the inspection i did on it looks like it was submerged in a river it has mud under the chasis but just in the front i think they tried to cross ariver or something and they just couldnt go back

i am prepared to replace all electronic pats on the truck at least computers for a start and test all other parts. Already bought ECU, BCM, COMBI METER, and TELEMATICS, i have missing 4x4 computer and A/C, also Airbag module

already installed techstream toyota scan tool on my lap top and bought the cable my problem right now is i cant communicate with new computers

its a regular key truck no smart key and its M/T

about how high the water went already dissasembled the full dashboard and the watermarks in the font of the truck go up to the spedometer but i the back of the cabin barely can find marks on the floor of the cabin.

for the engine already changed the oil and it does had water on it not a big issue already removed the spark plugs and cranked it manually the engine is not stucked

So right now you can't communicate with any module on the truck correct?

While you have been inspecting and replacing parts on the truck, have you noticed any residual moisture anywhere? Were the carpets and padding inside still wet?

Good luck with getting it started once you get all those new components replaced.
