Great point! I can admit I am guilty for my folding to that strategy. :annoyed:

All I know is window units cost more than central in the long run. And if the fuel gauge is any indication of a good furnace that would not budge all winter.

I know about bacon wrapped fatties but have never tried to smoke one. I have, however, smoked more than one meatloaf wrapped with a bacon weave. Oh so tasty.

Somewhere I have a recipe for making Spam. Kind of an involved process and the yield would be a lot of spam. But now I have a vacuum sealer it might be something for me to look into. This past winter my local grocery chain, Giant Food, had whole smoked hams on sale for 59 cents a lb. I bought 5 of them.

Good morning. Two of my nephews are.up at the cottage for a few days. Nice to see them again. We went for a walk out on the jetty after dinner then enjoyed a great sunset back at the cottage. Today I am going to hit up the thrift store on town. Never know what you might find. I am looking for a cast iron pan to use on the gas grill up here.

I forgot to add, my son is going to buy a new Tacoma. The 2024 are at a .99 % interest
rate for 48 months. They are scarce but the local dealer has one SR5 that is loaded for a decent price. Doing research I noticed you can do the entire purchase including finance on line now.

When a central takes a shit your S.O.L.

If a window unit craps I’ll just move the other unit and swap it out. I’ll sleep comfortably.
I’ll take a 8000btu for 150 bucks than my boys central air that took a shit and he got 2 window units and
    Saved Thousands…
I’ll take slightly more run cost for portability and no tools repair.. lol

Yesterday the service technician paid us a visit and confirmed the integrated motor/pump in our "Thru-The-Wall Split Condensing Unit" froze up; no word yet on how long before they can get their hands on a replacement unit; could be weeks.

Last night temperatures in our condo were in the high 80s with brutal humidity to the point water was condensing on the outside of our refrigerator. Given the forecast for today was (and still is) 99° and humid, I figured I needed to do something. I walked our little collapsible wagon over to our local Lowes and bought a 7,000 BTU "portable" A/C unit with a fat hose to a window plate for the heat exhaust. By this morning the temperatures inside were down to 80° and the humidity has dropped to a very comfortable level; I figure even if it doesn't get any cooler inside, just the reduction in humidity alone makes the purchase worth it. While we're not as comfortable as we were with a working HVAC system, we're "good enough", so the repair of our condensing unit can take however long it takes with no real hardship.

Wow, and I thought the 2.49% interest rate I got on my 2022 was good; almost makes me want to trade mine in..., almost. Yeah, maybe not; I have a little over a year before mine is paid off, and mine still looks like new and does everything I need it to do.

I'm not for having a all in one unit for hvac. I'll keep the furnace separate, and continue to run 2 ac units. Still working on installing a mini split system. I retire this week so hopefully I can get it done.
