Ran the cable from the back of the truck bed to the front. Used a 3/4 rubber grommet on the hole exiting the truck bed. Worked out OK.

Not so far. The cable is stable and no greater amount of dust is coming in through the hole. Waiting to see how it does in the rain but other than that so far so good. I wanted the cable to go straight into the unit and not have to struggle with it pulling in a different direction. You doing something like it?

Yes. The cable is too short to route it anywhere towards the end of the bed.

Yes, I tested that first and the cable was too short to go all the way to the end of the bed even on my short bed. You could always try to splice for a longer cable but the front of the bed really made more sense to me but I did not want to drill a hole but now that I did it, I am happy with it as it is small enough. Good luck with your installation, I would love to hear and see what you do with it.

Once the cable went out the hole, it was routed through the frame being careful not to have it close near anything hot or that will move. You could route it via the way the other factory cables are routed but I did not want to cut more holes any where. I want to keep the truck as unholy as possible There is ample space to have the cable safe and once I was close to the engine, there is also alot of space to feed the cables through all the way to the battery. I want to add another terminal to make it be more clean at the connection point.

I put the hole in the driver side, as it’s closer to the battery. I shoulda drilled the hole a bit higher because I’m building a cabinet. I used some siding tape to tape over the entry.

Nice, what Gen Toyota did you set this up? I imagine Gen 3, how did you run the cables?

Running it through the frame and with the factory harness outside the frame. We’ll see if there’s any issues

Thanks for sharing. I have not found much info about how people are going through the bed with the alt charger cable. Before my topper instill I spent a lot of time plugging holes to prevent water and dust, now I ned to make one and I’m probably overthinking it. It’s been a bit since y’all have done this. How’s it working out?

Good stuff. I have a Diamondback cover and was hoping I could run the alternator charger almost to the tailgate... apparently not. When my charger gets delivered I will have to mess around with a few different options before I start drilling holes.

Hope this helps someone. I’m sure there’s room for improvements but here’s what I came up with.
-I bought the cable grip from Platte
-Used a drill and a razor blade to massage the grommet to fit the double wire
-Drilled a pilot, then used a step bit until the fitting went in snug.
-Removed the paint tape, then applied 10 mil tape over the hole, cut a X in the tape and inserted the fitting. I’m not sure that was necessary but thought it would help seal and protect the edges of the hole.
-Added a washer to each side of the fitting to give more bite and protection. I siliconed the bed side of each washer.
-Put it all together with loctite and ran the cable along the frame and to the battery. I covered that portion of the cable in red 3/4” wire loom.
-After the test fitting I painted the mounting board and anchored it better than shown in the last photo.

It’s been a few weeks and it’s working great so far. Mine is actually a 3rd generation double cab. I added to this thread to keep the info together since it’s more about installing an EcoFlow alt charger than the year of the truck and when I was looking for ideas I didn’t find much. All that said, I had just enough cable. Another 6” of cable it would look cleaner under the hood.

@ReFresh77 that looks like a great setup. I like the fact that the cable does not move. I had not had any issues with mine besides the fact that the alternator charger has been having issues staying on. Keep us posted on how your setup works in the long run.
