These look really good. I had neoprene Wet Okles in my '14 for about 10 years, and loved them. What is your opinion on EKRs leather quality? I cannot decide between EKRs neoprene or leather covers. Both do seem to have good reviews, I've just never owned leather seat covers. In the back of my mind, im concerned the leather will crack or flake.

Grabbed them from Operation Mod Out, they have all kinds of designs and options so you can find one that you like best, and they shipped super fast. One of the easier and fun mods I've bought.

I have good perspective here. I had a 2013 Tundra Rock Warrior with cloth seats that never saw daylight because I had Wet Okoles from almost day 1 until I sold it 10+ years later. The biggest plus for WO was the fit and finish. They were custom fitted so well that they truly felt like stock seat. I beat on those, loved them, and the only thing that wore on mine was the TRD logo that eventually peeled itself off.

The EKRs are awesome in their own way. First, they were around $200, compared to the $500+ I paid for Okoles years ago (with a group buy discount). I priced out Wet Okoles this time around and really didn’t want to pay the price. For $200, the EKRs have a great fit and finish, and 100% look like stock leather seats. They were a noticeably warmer on sunny days, as expected, and the seat heaters worked through them, albeit slightly diminished (I do think Toyota seat heaters are pretty weak generally).

My advice, for what it’s worth, try the EKR seats. My guess is that you’ll really like them. They were one of those accessory purchases I can directly attribute to the greatness of community forums. I would’ve never even given these a second thought, given the unknown brand (to me) and low price point. But, through people’s experiences here, I gave them a try. No regrets, I think they are with much more than what they cost.

Is that a Prime Day kind of price? Was looking them recently and they're $250 or so right now. I can wait for a sale, not an urgent need but I like how they look.

You and I have similar experiences with Wet Okles. I bought my WO set for my '14 through a group buy here on TW, and like you, I dont believe i want to pay practically double for WOs, although the quality is there. After about 10 years of ownership, i only noticed 2 threads were starting to give but that could've been easily repaired.

Ive always been a "get what you pay for" type person, and like you, i havent heard of EKRs. I think i may look into EKRs neoprene covers then possibly pick up a set of EKRs in the fall. Thanks for the feedback!

Interesting question about it working with the ignition off.

There are two pieces to the install. The Dongar Pro and a "LAMTTO 360 Degree View 4 Channel Dash Cam Front and Rear Inside 5G WiFi Dash Camera".
The Dongar Pro is supposed to provide ignition on, timed or continuous operation when the ignition is off. This power comes from the mirror head plug.

To answer your question directly. I do not have power to the cam or the mirror when the ignition is off. I never noticed this before because when I use the Home Link to open my garage door the vehicle is always running. Double checking -- when the Tacoma is off, Home Link has no power and does not work. I think this is the way it is supposed to work for security reasons.

I thought it might be the harness selection, as the Dongar Pro manual says that a 2024 Toyota Tacama Off Road should use the 5 pin harness.... (it also says that the 2024 Sport takes either 5 or 10 pin harness?), and it comes with both harnesses. The 5 pin connector does not fit for my connection, the primary connection is a 10 pin harness that provides power to the mirror when the Tacoma is running. No apparent way I can get power to the mirror when the vehicle is off, so no power to the Dongar Pro or cam when the vehicle is off? Maybe it is the circuit detection to the camera.

The Dongar Pro is supposed to work with the ignition off. Checking in with Dongar Pro and the cam settings.

    Here is the cam.

I figured out the Dongar Pro power issue with Dongar Pro support help.
They wanted me to try the 5 pin connector which is under the dome light cover.

Not sure why the 10 pin to the mirror does not work, but if you pull down the dome light cover there is an unused 5 pin connector tucked in the left side (drivers side) of the roof cavity that provides continuous power. Using the 5 pin connector to the Dongar Pro works as it should. So, there is continuous and timed power along with direct to ignition on options -- all indicated by the different colored and flashing lights on the Dongar.

The hardest part about that install was tugging on that dome light panel. Everything always feels like it will break, but getting your fingers under the front portion and pulling down will remove it. Pushing it back on was no issue even with the small bit of wire sticking out the front for power to the dash cam.

The way my Toyota dealer installed my 360 camera as part of my initial purchase was to connect the parking option directly to the battery under the rear seat, which means it will always have power. Mine has switch settings to configure at what voltage you want the device to shut down power to the camera to keep the battery from draining to a low level. My camera is is fairly efficient as it only activates the recordings when it identifies an event. That being said, even the monitoring does take some power. I have the Toyota DC4000RA 360 Camera with the DC203A Parking Option which are listed on the build a vehicle on the Toyota site.

How do the seat covers effect the heated seats?

I still want to know I have heated seats and don’t want to lose out on having another layer of material blocking it.

I can verify that it does work when ignition is off. I keep my DP in parking mode all the time, even when in garage because I am lazy, it has a huge memory card and I don't want to futz with it. I've checked the video clips downloaded from my camera (stored in 60 second files) and the most boring ones are those when the truck is sitting in the garage. I had the same issue as you when installing and decided, what the heck, I'll plug it into what's here and available and whammo, it worked slicker than fresh cow dung on a flat rock. FWIW my cam is the Viofo A229+ (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKX14L34?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) and it's a killer unit with front and back cameras.

In my opinion, the seat heaters work, albeit slightly diminished (maybe 10%). I’m of the opinion that Toyota seat heaters are typically pretty weak. But you’ll feel them in the winter for sure.
