So long Tacoma. Sold her for 8K. Growed Old and no longer can work on it myself. Picked up a 2018 F-150 Deisel. Always wanted one, we shall see how it goes. Been fun helping and being helped by this community, yet all things come to a close. Good Luck y'all and God Bless.

F150 diesel? I don’t think they sell F150 diesels, at least not in this country…

Congratulations... a bit of unsolicited advice. I have people in a Ford service dept and the biggest problem that they see with the diesels is people putting DEF into the fuel tank. It seems like it shouldnt happen but it does and it is thousands of dollars to fix. Misfueling is not covered under any warranty and it is an out of pocket expense. They do make a key locking DEF cap, kind of pricey but I would look at it as insurance.

A few things you can look forward to…
A smile and warm fuzzy feeling when you see a clean Taco out on the road.
Striking up a conversation with a Tacoma owner in some parking lot and remembering fondly the good old days.
Looking on Bring a Trailer or Autotrader just to see what’s out there.
Just remember, Tacoma passion is a lot like the Hotel California, you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave.

    ugh
    So on point

The number of Insurance claims for my comp for def contamination exploded so much, they made a new business group to handle the influx
IF a Covered Loss…..expect insured’s rates to nearly double

I say “IF” bc more than 50% of clms are bc owner didn’t know that changing fuel filter cartridge/water separator (2 on Fords IIRC)is more important that changing oil

No proof of FF changes means you are denied coverage

Too much water in the diesel causes the HP fuel pump to grenadine….tossing metal shavings through out fuel system
Entire system needs to be RR’d per every diesel manufacturer
Easy $15k-$20k depending on if dealer washes out $1500 tank and blows out the multiple 15ft hard fuel lines or replaces tank/hard lines

    CHANGE YOUR FF’s!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s a pretty rare truck you found (long bed, diesel). I hope it treats you well for a long time.

how does a locking DEF cap keep someone from putting DEF into the diesel tank? not sure I understand.

Would prevent fuel in def system
    That only runs $3500-$4000!!!
