Hey all, @ME OFF Rd and myself are doing a quick trip up to the greater Barrie ON area this weekend. We're taking the quickest route through upstate NY Thurs on the way out.

Our drive home Saturday and Sunday will be much more relaxed. We're thinking of transiting back to Maine via ON + QC. Crossing back into the states in either VT or ME. Anything we should stop and see? Any routes you could recommend that might be more scenic than a typical highway? I see the Algonquin Provincial Park is about 1.5 hrs north of where we will be on Friday.

Open to any and all suggestions!

Algonquin park is great if you have time to go into the interior. That takes a canoe and a tent (both can be rented). Reservations will likely be required ahead of time

Maybe Thousands Islands would be less of a rush to visit?

    Great info thanks.

Due to being somewhat time constrained we're looking for mostly truck based exploring / dirt roads / generally nice back roads. Short hikes or other sights to see definitely not out of the question, but I doubt we'll have time for a canoe trip unfortunately haha

Did you check out the Ontario thread? I haven't been there for a while, but they used to be pretty active, and they have some trails they can recommend down there. I'm father north, than most of those guys
