I wanted the trail hunter skid plates but I was off-put with the "TRAILHUNTER" logo... I just feel it's like putting a TRD-PRO badge on a TRDOR.

Then I discovered the Toyota Land Cruiser skid plates are fully compatible. It's essentially the same as the Trailhunter skid except it says Toyota.

Comes with all hardware, including a cross brace which I think is for SR5 models?

    PART NUMBERS

Land Cruiser Front Skid ("TOYOTA" Logo): PT228-60242
Transfer Case Skid (HYBRID ONLY): PT228-35247
    Transfer Case Skid (NON-HYBRID): PT228-35248

    Rear Diff Skid: PT228-35242

Cool that it even comes with a cross member, I wouldn’t have expected that. I had to find one for my Sport

I'm not exactly sure if the crossmember is actually compatible but I would imagine it is..

I can upload a picture of it..

Anyone know if the TRD front skid plate mates well with the transfer case skid plate? Or are they totally different colors & shapes

Just a heads up that there are 2 part numbers for the rear diff skid on the Tacoma:
    - PT228-35242 for Hybrid Auto or Non-Hybrid 6 speed manual
    - PT228-35245 for Non-Hybrid Auto

To complicate things further, there are more part numbers for 4Runner and Landcruiser 250:
    - PT228-89253 for Hybrid (Off-Road, Pro, and Trailhunter only)
    - PT228-89254 for all Non-Hybrid and Limited/Platinum Hybrid, plus all Landcruiser

I think I know the answer from looking at the photos, but just in case: Does the front skid plate need to be removed to do an oil change?

Yes, unlike the 3rd gen Pro skid plate which had a small removable panel, the 4th gen front one needs to be completely dropped. The transmission skid plate can be left in place for an engine oil change, though.

It's not too bad. There's maybe 6 bolts, but you loosen (not remove) two of the bolts. These are used to hold the plate in position to refasten the other four. It's a simple and effective design.

This is kind of a crappy drawing, but if you look straight up at the bottom of the plate, how it sits on the truck, there's some wider holes with a slot in them. You slip the two bolts into this slot, slide the plate forward until they hit the end of the channel, and then the rest of the bolts are in position to fasten. Otherwise you'd need like 4 arms to put it in place:
