Seems like a reasonable install. My 2016 still has the stock cooler. I pin it open when I tow.

I must be an oddball then. I sold my Tundra after 5 years and got a Tacoma again and absolutely love it. When I first got the Tundra I really like it and said I'd never go back to smaller truck... But the more time went on, the more I resented the gas mileage, the parking and parking lot navigation, the horrible off-road capabilities, etc.
    Tacoma FTW!

I also liked the size of my 2017 Tacoma (most of the time), and the manual transmission (most of the time). Until seven months ago, I'd never had an auto (been driving over 40 years). But the 3.5 V6 in the 3rd Gen never felt like a truck engine to me (no torque at low rpms), it seemed like the front rotors warped under moderate braking (on I-70 in Colorado), I didn't like the dial-shifter for the transfer case (always had a lever), and I wasn't crazy about the access-cab doors. So I traded in the 2017 Tacoma for a Power Wagon.

The PW is too big most of the time, but a great size some of the time. I live in rural Colorado, so I don't have to deal with city traffic. I prefer the solid front axle off-road, and it handles just fine on-road. I really like having a manual lever for the transfer case, lockers front and rear, the disconnecting front sway-bar, a winch as factory equipment, and the low-end torque of the 6.4 Hemi. The brakes are engineered to stop the vehicle while carrying or towing heavy weight - so they are overbuilt for the PW specs (payload of 1,600 pounds and towing max of 10,500 pounds). It runs 35-inch tires with no modifications and no rubbing. The 8-speed ZF transmission is great (the first auto I've ever liked driving). I looked hard at the available mid-size vehicles (Grenadier, Gladiator, new Tacoma), but I went with the PW. I'll have a GoFast camper on it soon. Overall, I'm happy with the trade.

I've also still got my 1997 Tacoma when I want to shift my own gears, and the 3.4 is a torquey little engine which is great for grunt-work on the property.

Started in a taco, moved to the 2nd year T100, 1st year did not have extended cab, then into a Tundra. Now back into a taco.
