    I used 1" blue painters tape as a guide and trimmed mine to 1" all the way across. Way shorter than yours, it's almost not even noticeable. I used a very fine tooth finish cut blade on a jigsaw, then a couple of strokes with a file to smooth the edges. The 1" is perfect at the edges, but I can just barely see the felt cover in the middle if I look. Probably 1.25" to 1.5" would have been perfect in the middle.

    I took mine off, no drop in mpg unless I'm over 60mph

    maybe 1+ decrease on the freeway, BFD.....

    want better mileage? leave it in M7 unless you're over 65mph

    no more constant 8th to 7th downshifting


    did the same with a buddies gen3
    left it in 5th gear unless on the freeway
