Thanks, tbh never thought I'd be a Prius owner but just like the FJ, I saw the concept and had to have it. It's been a killer daily/road tripper ngl.

 

Wife and I went out for a great ride today in the Jemez Mountains, through the Valles Caldera. Was a nice ride for me, BIG ride for her since she doesn’t ride much. But…was her suggestion that we ride this loop for our anniversary celebration. 27 miles with 2.1k elevation gain and a cider and PB and Honey sandwich to cap off the ride!

 

Not as far north as whistler, but ill be riding in Bellingham Labor day weekend (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday morning) if anyones else is around.

 

YISSSS. Wanna explore a lot of that area on when I get my bike; not been out there enough on foot.

 

It's a men's bike but in selling a Motobecane fantom comp 26" hard tail, it actually has some road oriented slick like tires on it because i used it for commuting for a bit, 200$ but it might not be her size.

It depends on what she wants if she wants a hard tail or rigid fork. Honestly for bumbling around town without any dirt, even with rough roads, I'd aim for a gravel bike you can throw some 40mm tires on. I have a retrospec amok that's in that category that i use for commuting, it was 400 new so I'm sure you could find something. Or a hybrid bike, too.

Women's specific bikes have a lower stand over height for the same otherwise geometry, and SHOULD aim for narrower bars too, but not all do.

Giants lineup called Liv might be something to look at.

For example this is out of your price range and nearer me, but here's a hard tail women's "adventure" bike.

 

As a lady - I'd say it's worth trying out non-ladies specific bikes; the smaller frames in general are hard to find anyway -- even getting to try them honestly can be difficult (I am also 5'5").

As with many lady things they all come with that "pink tax" for often less. That may be less true at a competitive level when you need a bike to really fit you a specific way but from the sounds of it you're looking at something entry level to get into and potentially grow from there. I'd say let her help pick - whether it's intitally up front because she likes the way one of those looks -- but ultimately when she rides it around before you buy it her vote of yah, this seems good (for now ).

 

It's probably the difference of the carbon wheels profile but could have also been the DH casing.
Funny my rear wheel got a dissector too but with a EXO+ casing on a Bontrager line comp 30 alloy wheel and cush core.

 

What does everyone here have/use for a bike rack?

Looking for 2inch hitch to go between the taco and runner likely -- 2 bike capacity and probably not the most crazy off road but something to handle more than highway

Been looking at 1up; Rig'd; kuat; and rockyMountain -- would like to be able to lock things up/down where possible.

 

1up is the only rack I have had, but I like it. Feels secure when driving and I put locks at both wheels if I ever have to leave it unattended.

 

1Up. Tons of people here (including myself) have tried 'em all. 1Up is what you want.

 

Timber rattler from yesterdays eeb ride. Managed to hit some new bigger features at Walden’s, smaller gap jumps and a rock drop with a gap. The small stuff that kind of gets in your head. Working my way up slowly.

 

Ughh.. After a long wait (nearly most of the summer), lots of building up to it after double knee surgery... I finally got out on my "real bike", no more eeebs, no more trail bike, just full-gas Nomad ride time.
Within 2.5 miles, I got a double flat. Yeah, both at once. Had a tube, three dyna plugs, thought I'd be fine. Hole was too big for the plugs, and the tube had a hole in it. Goddammit.
Walked back. In I don't know how many years, that's the first time.
Magic Mary Trail Pro, 25 psi on the front. Albert Gravity Pro 27.5 psi in the back. I weigh 145.

Two near new tires, a tube, three dynaplugs, sealant everywhere, and 45 minutes later I made a decision.
Done saving grams. Going DoubleDown and Downhill (or equivalent) from now on. Weight be dammed.

 

Rockymounts guiderail is better than a 1up. Easier to use and just as beefy.

Diggin' all the 1up love - that Rocky Mtn GuideRail looks like a sorta clone adding the front handle for adjustment without it bein an addon accessory.

I'm still leaning hard on the 1up having read a bit more -- reddit sure loves em too. lol. Just nicer hearing it from fellow taco/runner/fwends

 

1up for sure. I got my single with an add on for like $400 from Facebook. I rented a Thule on a road trip and it sucked. The tray mounts like the 1up, quirk, Rocky mounts is the way to go. Not the single wheel clamp with a cradle on the other side. They didn't seem stable.

I bashed my 1up driving around the mountains near crested butte and its still going strong

At least in this case it's a win -- the 1up is a great price point -- feel better knowing it's as solid as it looks.

 

I wasn’t a huge fan of the previous ones but they actually killed it with the newest generation. I’ve considered getting one. It’s really one of the only hybrids that make sense price/money savings, at least for me.

 

Day 1 in the books, just getting up to speed. Its dry AF, supposed get get a lil rain Wed. hopefully.

The Contis seem to be pretty unflappable. The DH casings aren't even heavy. I only seem to flat old tires. At some point the casing just gets worked and cant hang

 

Man i was running the dissector DH casing at like 27psi and honestly was a big fan. I’m like 235 plus 15-20 poubds in camera gear and water, plus the e-bike haha. The tire took a big beating this weekend on the e-bike but really crushed it. Probably won’t put a maxxgrip on the rear again just to get a little more life though. I know everyone is digging the radials but idk if I can stray from maxxis haha

I was just up some nasty fire roads with my e-bike on the back of my 1up and was more worried my hitch would break off before the rack did anything haha.
